I have a 30 gallon fish tank that I am going to set up this week. I want to put some convicts in there. Should I fill the water and let it set for a few weeks before putting any fish inside? Before I put the water in, should I put the rocks and decor in?

all you need to do is fill tank up with water and decor. You need to get a water conditioner and chlorine remover. THATS IT!!! let your water filter for 48 hours just long enough for a thin layer of algae to grow. Your also going to need a heater for your tank if your going to have convicts.

fill it..let it sit for a day.. make sure you either use Reverse osmosis water or tap..if you use tap make sure you use Prime or Nov-Aqua water conditioner.

and make sure to put your ROCK or substrate in first!
1LB ROCK = 1 GALLON of water. so make sure you get at least 20LBS of rock.

if you use Reverse osmosis water make sure you do use R/O right by Kent. it adds all the chemicals back into the water that the process removes.

Have test strips to check all the PH levels/Nitrate/Nitrites ect..

let it sit for a day or so... test the water with test strips..if the PH is low..get some PH up ...

and then add fish..maybe 2 at a time..every 2 weeks. and see how they do.

R/O water can be bought at water stores..oreven local fish stores. thats the safest way to go for fish tanks
