this has happened to me a few times in the past and its really frustrating. They seem okay but all of a sudden they start swimming sideways or upside down and sometimes it can last for a while like this? why does this happen? can you do anything? They are coldwater fish like goldfish, and orandas and them black ones with googly eyes(cant remember name).

I am moving tomorrow and would like any pointers on making the move easy, for me and my fish. Here is my plan: 1. net and bag all fish and place them into a cooler to keep the temp stable. 2. drain the tanks. 3. remove the rocks and sand and put them into a rubbermaid container. 4. break down the filters and put the media into a container with tank water. 5. move all of the stuff into the new place. 6. set everything up as quickly as possible to minimize the stress on my fishies. Am I missing anything? Anything that I could do differently? Thanks in advance.

I have goldfish and I need to use bottled water to fill the tank because I have unacceptable well water. My dad tried to chemically treat it, but we don't use it to brush our teeth or cook! We just use bottled water at my house for everything.

I am going to be setting up my first aquarium tomorrow. A brand new 10gal tank with one goldfish. My only problem now is that I have been keeping goldie in a bowl and been using spring water in the bowl. This isn't such a big deal because I buy the water anyways for my betta bowl also, but these are both small bowls. Now I am getting a 10 gal tank, but I don't have town tap water, I actually have well water which my dad tries to maintain with chemicals. I don't want to spend over $10 getting a bunch of bottled water, but I'm afraid my well water will not be acceptable for the tank. What to do? I don't think water conditioner will be able to correct the well water either. At our house we don't even use the tap water to brush our teeth or in cooking, we used bottled! Does this mean I have to go out and buy a bunch of water? What do i do?

Since last Sunday, I've got 13 fish from Wal-Mart & they've all died except 2. I've had 2 double-tailed goldfish {one for me & one for my brother, both in separate tanks}, Mollies & 1 Angelfish that is still alive, along with one mollie :]
I'd LOVE to breed some fish & have some little fishes in the tank, but they just seem to die =/

Any ideas or suggestions please? I'd just like to have some fish that'll stay alive.

I need to know what kind of fish they are so I can do some research on them so I will know how to take care of them. The fish are about the size of a quarter. Their bodies are silver with a little bit of black, and they have big black fins. They remind me of angelfish, but I know that they are not angelfish. If anyone could help I would greatly appraciate it. Thanks!!

I just noticed that my petstore is selling clams to filter the water in the fishtank. I was wondering how well this worked, do the clams need to be fed ( the saleslady said no) and how long they lived. Also is a 1/2 gallon tank with one betta be big enough to support a clam. Any comments would help me decide Thank you

My betta has popeye - I treated him on separate occasions with Maracyn, Maracyn 2 and now Tetracycline. I am also using some aquarium salt and Coppersafe as recommended. The cloudiness in his eyes cleared up but they are still like little clear globes. Does anyone know a sure way to knock this out of him - no silly answers please. Thanks !

I have a (approx) 1000 gallon pond with 4 goldfish, 1 koi, 3 orfs. 3 of my fish died, apparantley due to high Ammonia levels. My filtration system is only 2 weeks old. what ways can i control the ammonia level without a fully operational filter, to prevent more fish dieing? Please help. Thanks.
