Since last Sunday, I've got 13 fish from Wal-Mart & they've all died except 2. I've had 2 double-tailed goldfish {one for me & one for my brother, both in separate tanks}, Mollies & 1 Angelfish that is still alive, along with one mollie :]
I'd LOVE to breed some fish & have some little fishes in the tank, but they just seem to die =/

Any ideas or suggestions please? I'd just like to have some fish that'll stay alive.

I had a black tetra that I got from Wal-mart that lived for like 6 years. That poor fish went through hell and survived. So i would go with one of those. :)

Well, you sound like me! I always want my fish and pets to have babies! It's so amazing and fun to watch. If you want small tropical fish, I would breed mollies, swordtails, platys, and fancy guppies. I know some of them don't last long, but I guess you just have to take that risk. Maybe only the strong survives. But they all do mate a lot. If you want to save them, try to catch them after they are born and put them in a fry nursery, and watch them grow! Or the bigger fish will definately eat them. I've done all this since I was a kid. If you want bigger, or more aggresive fish...striped convicts are really good. I started off with two, and now I have a whole bunch of them! I was lucky enough to get a mating pair. One day they both started to swim in and out of their castle all the time, the mother sometimes would never even leave the castle, except to eat. They had a lot of eggs in their, protecting them. When they hatched, wow, I swear I saw hundreds of tiny baby fry all around the castle! So cute. A lot of them grew up, and I have all sizes now. There getting pretty big, but not too big. And now they have a batch every month! Ok, I'm done...c-ya!

first of all your water must be conditioned. you need a heater for tropical fish. gold fish are really carp they like cold water. next you never put 13 fish in a tank at one time . you should let your tank water set for 24 hours before adding fish and than only 2 or 3 at a time. wait a couple weeks and if they live try a couple more angelfish are very delicate and are not for the beginners. mollies like a little bit of aquarium salt change one forth of the water about every 3 weeks. take the tempeture of the water and when adding new water make sure it is the same tempeture of the water that is in the tank. if you are on city water you MUST use stuff to remove the chlorine. chlorine damages the lungs and the fish die.feed them good variety of fish food sparingly. mollies love vegie flakes they are vegetariens. If you have cat fish to keep the bottom clean make sure when you shut the lite off at nite you drop a pellet in for the bottom feeders. they have special food for them If your tropicals get chilled they get ich and if not treated right away they die within 3 days or so.that is why tempeture is very very important. keep ich meds on hand. buy fish that are swimming well with thier fins up never buy fish from a tank with dead fish in it. this is how you bring illness to your healthy fish at home. always remember to float the bag for 15 minutes before releasing fish into your tank and do it gently. make sure you do not put agressive fish with non agressive fish. always ask what goes well together and make sure if at wallmart they know enough about fish to give u the right answers. I hope this covers it all.I have raised lots of fish

I would not buy any fish from wal-mart. I have and they have all died and once they gave all my other fish ick and my whole tank was gone. Wal-mart doesn't have just one person maintaining there tanks go to petco or pet smart you may pay a little more but they will last longer then a week

Never buy fish from Wal-Mart. The fish die too quickly before you can really appreciate their beauty.

you need to get your fish from a pet store and not walmart. There fish usually have ICK it is a diease that kills fish and can infect your whole tank. Killing all your fish, Good luch and go to the pet store you will have to pay a little more but it is worth the money to not go through the heart break.

Wal-Mart tends to sell sick fish and its a rare scenario to buy a healthy one from them. If you want to breed fish you need to really get informed on how to do so because they require a certain environment to do so.

It seems like every time I go to Walmart and look in their tanks there are dead fish in them. I buy my fish at the pet store because then they come with a warranty and also you shouldnt ever buy fish from a tank that have dead fish laying around in it! At walmart there are always dead ones chilling in the tanks!
