Betta fish are soooo easy to take care of just stick him in a vase whith a plant and some rocks at the bottom (for looks) & your good to go, my best friend had a betta fish and fed it every other day because it will feed off the plant aswell, make sure you keep his water clean, to change his water just put him in a diffrent container with same dagree of water so he dosen't get thrown in shock. betta's are easy to take care of and fun to watch, "Enjoy!"

Keep this bowl away from sources of hot and cold air such as heaters, heater vents, cold or sunny windows, drafts, air conditioner vents, etc. It's is important that this bowl be kept cool at about 65 to 75 degrees F. Put it in a place away from extremes of hot and cold. IMPORTANT BETTA FISH CARE: Only ONE betta per bowl! They're called "fighting fish" for a reason. They are highly territorial animals and will react violently if two are placed in the same container. You can see the preliminary phase of their fighting, the threat display, if you put a mirror up against the bowl. Notice the raised gill covers, which makes the betta look bigger. Change the water in the bowl when it starts to look cloudy, about once a week. Let the water age at least 24 hours, to release some of the chemicals. After transfering the betta to a container (with either the old water or the water you're going to use) clean the bowl with mild soap, and rinse thoroughly. Also rinse any decorations (rocks, shells, plastic plants, etc.) before filling the bowl with the aged water, and releasing your Siamese fighting fish. The pet store where you bought your betta will have food as well, probably freeze-dried blood worms. Feed your Siamese fighting fish two or three times a day, only what he will eat in a few minutes. Overfeeding will make the water cloud faster, and your betta will be more likely to get ill. Plant Care. Do not use any plants except the natural water plants that are not toxic to the fish. The plants' roots grow down into the water and absorbs small amounts of waste produced by the betta fish. The plant also produces oxygen into the air. If the plants' root grows too large or becomes brown and soggy, you may cut them back. If the plant becomes too massive at the top (leaves) you may separate the plant and plant that part of the plant that is not being used. One of the best water plant to use is the Chinese Evergreen, it tolerates very low lighting and it's a hydroponic plant.
Betta Fish Care: Recommended Diet.
BettaMin Floating Flake Food and Delecta™ Freeze Dried Blood Worms both made by Tetra™ and available in most pet stores and Wal-Mart Stores. We also feed the fish in our fish bowls a few live Black Worms three days a week and occasionally some live or frozen brine shrimp. A little bit of live food is very good, but too much seems to cause problems.

How do you change the water?
Dump some of the water into a small container. Then get the fish out of the container you want to clean with a small fish net. Place into the water in the small container and clean the other container. You can use tap water, but I would suggest getting some water conditioning tablets which will help clean out any chlorine in the water and keep the fish healthy.
How Much should you feed it?
3 pellets of beta food
Any kinds of plants will work.
Betta are pretty hardy fish and can take a lot of punishment. Never put two bettas in the same tank.
They are good community fish so if you have a bigger fish tank with other good community fish, they will do well.

Siamese Fighting Fish Care Instructions

I used to change the water every other few days (about three days). Just make sure that the water is not too dirty. You have to gauge yourself as it depends on a lot of factors like what you feed your fish with.

I feed them pieces of pork every day depending on how much they can eat. If they always have left over, you should feed lesser. Tubiflex worms or red worms are ok too.

You can put any plants with them. There is no concerns with what type of plants you place in the tank.

For sure you cannot place two betta in a tank as they would fight.

If you kept them in bottles and they are beside each other, you should put a piece of paper in between the bottles to prevent them from looking at each other all the time.

Bettas are quite hardy fishes. Just make sure the water is clean and feed them well, they should last for about two years.

hi,
first of all, you should never ever put just plain water in the Betta fish's bowl. You have to either put bottled water or tap water mixed with this stuff you have to buy that helps get all of the fish poisons out of the water. Mine is called start right. Next when you buy the Betta food it will tell you how much to feed it. Oh ths part is VERY IMPORTANT, you can not put two Betta fish in the same bowl, one of them will end up dead because they are fighting fish. Also, at walmart they have little Betta plants but if you don't see them there get a soft plant because Betta fish have very delicate fins. Another thing, if i don't change the water like every week the bowls will start to stink and stuff like that so it's really gross, so change it every week OK? I have a little fish net and i scoop them out and put them in another little container, not filled up to high and with start right in it, then i dump the old water from the bowls fill it up with the right amount of start right and water put them back in the bowls and they feel much better after wards. ( : I hope i gave you enough information and i hope you have good luck with your Betta!!! ( :

The minimum for a betta tank is two.5 gallons. The water ought to stay around seventy 8 - eighty two levels. stay vegetation are great to maintain with a betta too. somewhat suggestion: 2.5 gallons fee around $20 - $30, yet you will get an entire 5 gallon equipment for below $30 at Wal-Mart.

I would recommend a little bit larger of a tank than the small bowls that they tend to be in as you will be changing the water and cleaning it all the time. I have one in a larger tank with an air pump which makes it lower maintenance. I tried a beta with a snail and it didn't appreciate the snail at all i.e., dead snail. I think they prefer to be alone and never with another beta as they will fight one another. When we lived in town we used the inexpensive bottled water in gallon jugs from a local store to keep the chemicals in city water away from it as I have read additives in city water aren't healthy for fish (fluoride, etc). I now have well water and use that with no problems..

The best site I've seen is betta talk.
Tips:
1)Clean the bowl tank regularly, and be sure that the new, and old water are the same temp.
2)Feed an insect/worm/fish based flake, but don't over feed.
