Try some of the species from the family AEQUIDENS or commonly called ACARAS. Blue acaras are a good start. They are easy to sex at a young age and I have seen babies spawn together. They don't grow too big and aren't overly aggressive. Males grow larger have more blue lines in there face and longer top and bottom fins. Females are smaller and when ready to spawn are very dark all over. These will be compatible with your firemouths however it is difficult to breed cichlids and raise babies when they are mixed together, especially when oscars are involved.
Other easier to breed cichlids that aren't too aggressive are things like electric yellows, peacocks, electric blues and other African mouth brooders. Stear clear of any of the PSEUDOTROPHEUS family as they are usually super aggro (males)fish. Mouth brooders all look like females when young and normally breed in colonies.

Well considering there are over 3000 different cichlid species, it would be tough to answer that generally.

But with good feeding, regular water changes, you should be able to get firemouths to mate and reproduce in 6 to 9 months.

the bigger the end result of the cichlid the more time it takes to mature.
