My betta has popeye - I treated him on separate occasions with Maracyn, Maracyn 2 and now Tetracycline. I am also using some aquarium salt and Coppersafe as recommended. The cloudiness in his eyes cleared up but they are still like little clear globes. Does anyone know a sure way to knock this out of him - no silly answers please. Thanks !

I've never dealt with popeye myself, but I've read about it, and I've had sick bettas before, so I know how it is.

You're medicating him the right way. Thank you for being a responsible betta owner! Just make sure you don't over-medicate. Tetracycline is like.. hardcore. Continue to use the aquarium salt and coppersafe as preventatives/healing agents. One of the most important things you can do at this point is keep his tank even cleaner than usual. Do an 80% water change twice a week (or more if your tank is less than a gallon) without removing Mr. Betta so you don't stress him out.

Sometimes it just takes a little time for popeye to clear up on its own. Bettas often DO make a full recovery from popeye, so I wish you and your fish the best!

(P.S:Tto the person above me- you obviously no nothing about proper spelling, grammar, OR fish. It is spelled b-e-t-t-a. Just do a google search.)

Bettalover is right, but in some cases the eyes never fully recover. I'd use betta methylene blue rather than coppersafe. Aslo if yuo have money to burn on this you might try some Melafix. Personally I'd just keep up the salt, and frequent water changes. If the popeye returns try and see if you can gets some trisulfa, or better yet Gel-Tek Ultra Cure BX (trisulfa, and nitrofurazone).
