Basically, all living needs to rest and sleep. Fish also do, but with eyes open due to no eyelid. So when they are resting motionless on the base of the fish tank or not moving at all, it means they are sleeping so do not try to stress them by hitting the tank or make loud noise to stun them.

Sure, they sleep a long time if you put them in a freezer. It's like that movie "Demolition Man," but instead "Demolition Fish." Good times.

omg, i was wondering the same thing.
i didn't have the time to watch my fish tank for a couple days nonstop tho to find out
i guess they do/ rest with their eyes open

I think so. My Bettas get very still at night, pretty sure they're sleeping good. Very cute...

yes they do. i had to catch one to put it in a bigger tank and i waited till night because he was to fast for me and i turned on the lights and he was stunned for a second and i caught him(yeh)
