My yorkie Puppy is about 6 months now. She is spayed, potty training. very hyper and she know a few tricks like rollover, sit, paw, etc. I try to walk her at least twice a day for at least 20 mins on a harness. But she goes crazy when i try to walk her. Its more like run to each tree, stop sign, trash on the side, or another dog or person. Is there way to get her to walk on the sidewalk normal??? I understand she's just a puppy. I just hope she grows out of it.

Licking AROUND her rear end I took her to the vet like about 2 weeks ago and the vet said it was flee's we bought some frontline and she had a flee bath. She is still licking around her rear end. I took her to the vet again yesterday and he said the skin was still irritated and she had another flee bath. Has anyone else ever had a dog who has done this consistently?

We are looking to get a golden retriever that is 7 months old. She has had one visit to the vets and one round of shots. What more is she going to need in the future and when? Are there any questions that I should be asking before adopting? I have never adopted a dog before and am not really sure what questions to ask or what to expect as far as shots and routine checkups. I know they aren't cheap, but I would just like some insight.

We've all seen it a million times on YA..."I want a dog that never sheds, never barks, will like living in my closet-sized apartment, that I'll never have to clean up after, that will never get sick (because I don't have any money and I'm too lazy or stupid to take it to the vet), and poops rainbows and butterflies."

Honestly, what is the deal with this? Pets are luxuries, not necessities...if you don't have the time, money, and energy to deal with them, don't! There's no such thing as an "easy" dog, I have no idea where people are getting this idea!

My dog is a "runner" any time possible, he runs! He's a mini/standard Schnauzer. I want to be able to walk him without a leash. Is this possible? If so, please tell me how I achieve this.

This question was emailed to me yesterday and since it goes along with yesterday's question, I thought I'd ask it.

How many of you "found" your dog on the street? If not, Do you have any stories about people who did find their dog?
I'd say finding one in a rescue or shelter counts. You can also tell us how you found your dog if you went to a breeder.

Thanks for answering!

Judging by the shape, I don't think we should be eating them.
Thanks.

A friend of ours (ours being my husband and I) owns an female APBT that is about to be having puppies very soon. He has to go out of town for about 5 days (The trip was unexpected, obviously he doesn't want to leave her, you know? If he had an option he would be staying with her) and he needs to find a place to board her where she will get the care she needs if she goes into labor while there. We were going to help him out and watch her while he was gone. We don't know anything about breeding/ whelping, but the dog knows us very well, she spends a lot of time at our house, so she would be more comfortable with us, and we could get her to the vet if needed. But, now we are going to be going out of town around the same time our friend is, so we can't watch her. My husband and I have never boarded our dogs before, and neither has our friend. Now that we are going out of town as well, we have to find somewhere to board our three APBTs. So anyway, I wanted to see if anyone could recommend...

I just moved into my new flat, but I have to go up state for a 3 day busniess trip. I cannot afford to keep her in a boarding house so the only option is to keep her in her cage for 3 days straight. Now yes the cage is very small for the dog, (it will have only 7 inch's extra moving space, but I could leave a big pile of food in her cage and lots of water. What do you think?

I am confused about buying from a breeder vs adopting from a shelter. I am concerned with health issues (that most breeders test for) whereas shelter pups could run into some issues. It would break my heart to have to put down a puppy/dog for hip dysplasia very young...I have seen it as young as 2 years old. I felt that by finding a breeder that is very careful and does a lot of testing it would save me the heartache.Do shelters take the time to check out the pups nowadays?

i have an 8 month old doberman that already is close to 90 lbs (yes hes a very big puppy.) we've taken him to obedience class and he can be very good sometimes...but then at times he starts biting...and his bites HURT. when he gets mad he snaps at me, hes hard headed at times when i tell him no, and he knows whats right and whats wrong because when he does somethin bad he runs and hides. in class we used a training collar and that seems to be the only time he listens--when he has the collar and leash on! how can i get him to LISTEN without always putting on his training collar and leash in the house and paying for ANOTHER training class thats money i just cant keep spending. also, can dobermans eat cooked meat?

Why a Pitbull versus a Boxer, Bulldog, Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Terrier or any other medium size dog.
Please no responses such as "I liked it's look". A Boxer looks nice too but you didn't get one. A Staffordshire looks a lot like a Pitbull but again you chose a Pitbull. Why?

I'm worried my dog might have an ear infection. He's had one ear infection before and I know some symptoms are a smell, discharge, or redness. The only symptoms he has right now is that his ears feel warm to the touch (normal, perhaps?) and he seems to be scratching them slightly more than usual. Am I just being an overconcerned puppy-mother or should I take him to the vet?

So I have an idea to rid Caesar of his separation anxiety. I was thinking of taking him to puppy daycare, though I cannot afford for this to be an everyday thing. maybe one week a month, what do you all think? If he gets used to daycare, when I take him out, will the anxiety start up again? Should I even consider daycare for his separation anxiety? I also thought of a daog walker, but after a while that can be costly too. I just dont want him to get used to doing one thing, then I cant afford it, take him out and he is worse off than before.

I was interested in getting a rat terrier but it's been brought to my attention that they are not good with kids and I have a 2-year-old. I want something small because I'm only 4 feet 11 inches and I don't want a dog that will drag me when walking. My neighbor has a cockapoo who is great with my son... is this a good dog to get? I just worry about the grooming.
