Not at all, they can go for much longer infact. It is not like you are leaving them alone for 2 days, as you can with cats.

as long as the dog is not having accidents in the house or destroying the place, it's fine. Most dogs (except active breeds like border collies or any dog under 2 years of age) sleep most of the day anyway - at least 12 hours a day depending on who you ask. Some say up to 16 hours a day.

As long as you exercise your dog when you're home, you should be fine.

My dog can go 9-10 hours, but she's a senior dog and always has been laid back. She rarely if ever has accidents and never does anything bad in the house.

I presume you mean dog and not PUP, It's not ideal but not excessive either. Dogs are pack animals and Yes they sleep a lot as most people will be quick to point out, but they prefer to sleep in the company of others! One reason why they sleep at your feet rather than in the nice warm dog-bed you provided at great expense LOL!
Make sure he goes out both before and after and that he has water available. Don't leave him with toys he could chew up or in an area where he could get into any hazardous substances (including foodstuffs) and he'll be fine!
Never leave a Puppy or youngster that length of time, they would find it stressful and can't control their bladders that long!

You didn't say how old your dog is. I left my 1 year old dogs at home for 5/6 hours while I worked.

I wouldnt think so if you leave it adequate food and water mate. Though you might consider perhaps leaving a radio on in the house so the animal feels like it is not alone. It sounds a bit daft but dogs can get lonley too

No. five is the longest I leave mine and I dont have any problems and neither do my dogs. They know I will return and settle down. Longer is not fair on a regular basis and 8hrs is not good as it is too long to expect them to wait for the loo.

No, it's not too long if your dog is getting good quality time with you. Walks on a daily basis, play time, trips to the park or beach or friends house for romps, things like that which dogs love.
Your dog probably naps most of that time that you are gone.

No, not at all. I leave mine alone for 4-5 hours at a time while I'm at work.
