No, not necessarily, AKC just means the dog is registered, and has a known pedigree. Anyone can buy AKC dogs and breed them, therefore have AKC puppies. You need to make sure you research the breeder and check for health test. If they show their dogs all the better, but the most important thing is health and temperment test, and the dogs meet the standard.

All it means is that the dog is registered. The breeder gets annual visits to make sure his kennel conditions are good, but I have known people to have awful kennels and still pass. It also dose not mean the dogs are good, as long as both parents are registered a dog can be AKC registered, even if there is something wrong or the animals are being neglected. The best way to see if a breeder is good is to "pop by" unexpectedly and see what the conditions are like.

No AKC doesn't have anything to do with whether or not the breeder is a good breeder. AKC means american Kennel Club- it simply is a way of joining an organization for a small fee to have your dogs registered. This certifies that the dogs are supposed to be pure bred, That their mommy and daddy was the same kind of dog. Btw, I can have my dogs registered and still operate a shoddy nasty, unhealthy puppy mill.

Not really. AKC means that the dogs this breeder owns are purebreds. You need to prepare some questions to ask the breeders observe the premises and meet with them. Some bybs have AKC registered dogs, but it doesn't mean that they are good breeders.

Absolutely not. One of the worst breeders that I have ever encountered either online or in person raises "only AKC reg Chihuahuas". She thinks that makes her a fine, upstanding reputable breeder. She has a 7 1/2 yr old chi who is pregnant with her 14 or 15 litter, having been bred every season since she was a year old. She has another female that is bred every season and has had c-sections for the last 4 or 5 litters. She is slowly, painfully killing her dogs.

Nope. The AKC is a registration body ONLY. They do not police the quality of the dogs registered with them. AKC registration means only that the parents are registered, and that the AKC has records of the dogs' pedigree.
You have to determine the quality of the breeder on your own.

heck no. It just means that the parents are AKC registered. It has nothing to do with the quality of the breeder or the quality of the breeder's care for the animals they breed.

No - it only means that the breeder has an AKC registered male and an AKC register female. It does not prove necessarily that indeed the puppy was a result of those two mating!

Nope. AKC is just a registry for purebred dogs that are recognized by the AKC (not all breeds are). AKC registration doesn't guarantee a good breeder or a good dog.

No, any purebred dog that is AKC recognized can be registered. There are many more important things to consider besides AKC registry when choosing a breeder.
