How come, when I watch a movie, that nothing that is done to human beings affects me at all, no matter how cruel, but---if one single dog is even slightly hurt, I feel so terrible and weep uncontrollably! What is wrong with me? Do others feel that same way??

I have a 5 month old Golden Retriever. He is thin and doesn't like his food. I put his food in his plate (Eukanuba) and he just looks at it. He was just sick a couple days ago (yes we went to the vet). I've checked out his brothers and they're all bigger and fatter than him. I'm actually beginning to dislike my dog because of this.

I just recently adopted a one year old basset mix, and she was said to be house trained but she has been peeing everywhere, even right after we bring her outside (which most of the time its over half an hour walks 3 to 4 times a day and sometimes she doesnt do anything)and its not in the same places. I've noticed a few of those times she peed when she was scared or excited. Would I be able to train her to get out of that habit? Also, any tips on training her so she doesn't go to the bathroom in the house?

The crackhead neighbors next door have been screwing with my livestock. I guess they find it amusing to open my gate when I'm not home so they'll get out. I want a dog that can endure cold temps and scary enough to deter a stranger and guard. The dog will have to be outside when I'm not home but of course inside when I am. Don't tell me to put a lock on my gate either for safety reasons. Don't tell me either its mean to keep a dog outside when its a dogs job to guard.

Dog owners, please answer!

My husband and I just recently got our first puppy together (a 9 wk old Mini Dachshund). It's his first dog. I have a lot experience with training puppies, and usually I stick to crate training. This time we are allowing the puppy to sleep under the covers with us, mostly because my husband wants to sleep with his new puppy. I don't mind it, because he's so cute. So far, it's going alright but I'm about to switch back to my ways because I wake up with a dog in my face, or he cries to go out. What are your experiences with this? Any suggestions?

So my fam and I live in a 2-fam house. It has a backyard and we live in the 2nd floor but we can enter/exit the backyard whenever. So my doggy does her "business" in the backyard, unfortunately, because it is a hassle to wait for her to do her business and walk up/down the stairs ALL the time, we dont know wat to do. We lived in Queens for a while in the 1st floor and she never did her "business" insidewhen we let her in the backyard whenever she wanted. We could just keep her outside. Anyway we could do that on the second floor??

She loves the Wolf Cub and she has more energy wich I didnt think was possibel (7 month Black Lab)...lol... was I wrong in my research by putting her on Solid Gold ?

I have a 13 week old Jack Russell puppy...his name is Jonas. We live in an apartment building so Jonas is on a leash everytime he has to go outside...so its nothing new to him, but I always have a hard time getting him to actually walk. He'll walk in a small area to do his business, but he wont go for walks kind of thing. He just pulls back and wont follow me. Sometimes if I give him a tug he'll come along, but other times he wont budge. I dont want to drag him and hurt him. How can I encourage him to walk with me?

I am planning on getting a pug, I have done a lot of research on the breed, but I was wondering if anyone who already has a pug could tell me a little more. ( like are they hyper, are they hard to potty train, can you train them to a potty pad, or do they do better outside, are they more dominant, or passive?) thanks for any advice or info!!

My 2 yr old mix constantly urinates on my bed and has done so on my daughter's bed too. It doesn't matter if we're home or not. First he scrunches the blankets/sheets up. We are fustrated and don't know how to stop it or why he does it. He's very close to me and possessive of me. Could this somehow be something I'm doing wrong? My husband has been putting up with it for now, but don't know how much longer he will. He has also peed on my sofa, but only if there's a blanket or something on there that belongs to someone or has a scent on it. My family thinks he's crazy, but I can't help loving this dog and I keep putting up with it. Is he obsessed with me? Is it a sign of trying to dominate?

OK..clearly, Bully breeds fart more. They snort, and snore, and make all kinds of noise. Really, mine doesn't have a very short muzzle...and she really does not eat fast, but she MUST be taking in a LOT of air because a LOT is coming out!!

So...do Bully breeds have a high occurance of bloat???? She is getting spayed next month, is a gastropexy a good idea for her????? I have Newfs and am aware of the bloat factor with the, but I am not sure how common a concern it is in these breeds. She is an American Bulldog.

He is only 4, a Pekingese. He went in for a surgery a few months ago and came out blind in one eye. Well the other night I let him in the back yard (fenced in) and went to get him about 20 min later and his eye had popped out, well was hanging out. They had to remove his eye so now he is completely blind! I am having the hardest time dealing with this... he is my baby and he is running into everything and acting totally different... he doesnt like some foods and he doesnt play much. He is on medicine right now but will he get better? How long does it usually take for a dog to adjust? I hear stories about blind dogs that are perfectly fine but its still hard.
Any advice would sure help! And thanks!!!

I gave my puppy to a friend. He's AKC registered. But I lost the registration papers! I don't care if it costs money to recover the papers. My friend is giving the dog to her dad. Her dad is a dog breeder, and he NEEDS the papers immediately before he starts using him as the stud.
I don't know what to do for the registration papers. He really does need them, and I've been dicking around for 11 months trying to get ahold of them.
The dogs 'parents' have their papers too. They're both AKC registered...
Come to think of it, I don't even remember if the dog I gave away has papers on him!!
I need some desperate help, how do I find out if the dog has papers? If he doesn't, then how do I get papers on him??
Help!! PLEASE!

OK...I have had a Frenchie...VERY gassy. Now I have an American Bulldog. The dog farts ALL the time. You can hear it. I can say I have never heard one of my Newfs fart. This dog is pretty darn gassy. She eats a high quality food and no table scraps. Is this something particular to Bully breeds, or what? Any suggestions?? Of course this is the dog that sleeps WITH us.

Whenever someone opens the front door, he would just dart out and make us chase after him, he would pause and wait until we catch up and run again. We're very tired of chasing after him sometimes 3 times a day. Is there anything we can do to train him not to?
