Of course! They remind me of the Phyllis Diller of dogs.

I have a hairless and a powderpuff.
The puffs have a full double coat of long hair.
The hairless varies in amount of body hair.. I have seen some that have no more than a sparse mohawk to some that are almost completely covered in a fine layer of hair.
Many of the ones you see in the show ring are a "moderate" to "hairy" hairless and do require shaving for that hairless look. A "moderate" hairless is one that has a strip of hair down the back, and maybe some on the legs that requires shaving.
I have a true hairless.. he only needs his face shaved. He doesnt have the flashy furnishings you see in the show ring.
Hairless do have dental problems.. it comes with the hairless gene. Dental loss is accepted in the show ring for the hairless only. Puffs should have normal dentation.
The hairless is alot of skin care to prevent acne, blackheads, dry skin, sunburn, and other irritations and infections. They dont get crusty sores when they get old unless they have some health problem that causes it.

I think they are adorable. The only ones I have seen have had good temperaments. Part of skin issues is improper feeding. Some dogs can not tolerate chemicals due to allergies. (Why should they anyway?) Every dog should have a bi-product/meal-free food without a bunch of corn and junk added to it. Any breed of dog can have skin problems.
They are nice to curl up with because there isn't much to shed. FINE BY ME.
I'm a cattle dog person and I love my Blue heeler but I will not insult the cute little hairless mop head creatures we call Chinese Crested. Better than a Shar Pei!

The chinese crested hairless, hairy hairless and powderpuffs are not totally hailess. However due ot the lack of hair there is a great deal of skin problems wiht these dogs.
they are also known for loosing their teeth at a very young age.
They are not the easiest dog to train.

When we wanted to get another dog(we have a Bichon Frise) we first looked into the hairless. But upon meeting some we found them to be very shaky, like a Italian Greyhound, and decided that they weren't for us, some of them are quite ugly though we did see some very beautiful ones. We ended up getting a Shih Tzu, a very beautiful dog.

Of course but I guess beauty really is in the eye of the beholder cause honestly you couldn't pay me to have one of them around ...well the powder puffs aren't too bad. Personally I don't want a breed that has to wear a sweater and sunblock all the time and it prone to serious skin infections but each to their own.

Yes, I am very familiar with them. I used to take care of one. They are really sweet tempered dogs.. and they DO need a lot of love. They are a pretty high maintenance breed.

I once saw a demonstration where a lady had hooked four of them up to a tiny covered wagon, they looked like miniature Clydesdales. So cute!

I have heard of them and seen them. They are not beautiful they are ugly. In fact, they were voted ugliest dog this year, by some popular dog club. Can't remember who.

I have. I find the hairless ones ugly. I prefer the powderpuff variety.
