She loves the Wolf Cub and she has more energy wich I didnt think was possibel (7 month Black Lab)...lol... was I wrong in my research by putting her on Solid Gold ?

The vast majority of grocery stores and chain pet stores have horrible foods.

But there are some exceptions. Some all-natural grocery stores carry high quality food (I know Wild Oats Marketplace and Whole Foods both carry Wellness). And there are even a few higher quality foods at Petco and Petsmart (Natural Balance, Blue Buffalo, and Solid Gold).

I checked the Pet Supplies Plus website (
http://www.petsuppliesplus.com/ProductGuide/DogFood.html ), and it looks like they are about 1/3 high quality foods and 2/3 lower quality foods. A much better ratio than your average chain petstore!

And nope, you were not wrong in your choice. In fact, you were very CORRECT. Solid Gold Wolfcub is good choice of dog food!

No Solid Gold is a good choice. It is holistic, uses high grade ingredients, no corn, wheat, or soy. It is what I feed my dog and I specifically researched for holistic foods. You can get foods at petco, because they carry higher quality foods, just don't get anything at a grocery.

Oh and as an edit to someone who said Petco doesn't carry high quality dog foods ie Solid Gold, that is incorrect, that is the only store in my town that carries Solid Gold. Infact, there are many holistic choices in my local Petco.

Edit:
Hello, I am located in Memphis, TN. If you look on Petco's website, you can see that they sell Solid Gold. Maybe it's just the Petco in my city that sells better dog food, since none of the Petsmarts, etc sell the good stuff. If my Petco didn't sell it, I'd have to order a 40 lb bag over the internet! Not cheap to ship. Check out their website, you can see all of the organic, and holistic choices they offer, it just may be that it's not sold in the stores near you.

Solid Gold is a great food. If Pet Supplies Plus carries it, as well as other high quality dog foods, keep going there. Petco and Petsmart just don't have high quality brands like Innova, EVO, Solid Gold, etc.

I don't know where Jessica W is located (above poster) but NO petco that I have ever seen carries good food. Pet Supplies Plus has good foods, as well as bad foods. Solid Gold is a good choice though.

Pet Supplies Plus is a reputable store as are groceries and Petco. Buy your pet food from a store that has a good turn over of stock, check the labels and compare nutrients from brand to brand. If you have doubts call your vet and ask if they reccommend one brand over another.

I personally but my animals Iams at the supermarket because it is most convenient, but when I am near PSP and they have a sale I stock up.

You sound like a great owner with a great dog!

great choice, its what i feed my dogs. my mastiff and rhodesian ridgeback are both healthy, have shiny coats, and bright eyes. food does make a difference. and anyone out there feeding kibbles and ????, alpo gravy train, and beneful- please switch those are not good for your dog, and a few even have sugar/corn syrup in them. its like haveing your dog in the house with a sugar high- too many twinkies.
