I was getting annoyed the other night when some advice I gave (sound advice in my opinion) was refuted by another "trainer" who's methods I disagree with completely. I was telling my friend this, someone who has worked with our breed for over 15 years, she runs the rescue I work with, and has dealt with more problem dogs than anyone I know, dogs with SERIOUS problems mind you and gotten them adopted out. Anyway she made the comment that "the only thing two trainers will agree on is that the third one is wrong". Do you feel this is true, have you ever gotten conflicting opinions on training and are not sure which way to go. I've tried several different methods and have found what works for me and my dogs but the woman I am referring to says that I'm just doing her method wrong, and of course that my method is wrong... Yeeeah.

And no I'm not a trainer, I have spent thousands on classes, and have spent my whole life with dogs.

I have a two year old Pekingnese male dog. He's pretty much into playing with any of his toys that he can chew on. But, he found this one toy, a latex dog toy that we bought at Walmart for 92 cents. It's shaped like a hippo. Anyway, he's been playing with it for two days and if you try to take it from him, he is very aggressive, wants to bite. We finally got it away from him and now he's antsy and running all over the place. It's a Made in China toy (big suprise, huh) and I just wonder if it's treated with something that is causing him to act like this. It's just odd behavior. Anyone experience this with their dogs with a certain toy? Thanks!
Ann :)

Tonight, he started him on Ivomec. I am thinking the dose is too high. I love my vet and he is amazing but the dose seems too much. I know this is not the best place to get answers for that but just wondering if there is a vet tech here or breeder that might know. Theo weighs 5.13 pounds, he is almost 14 weeks old. He is taking 0.13ml (or cc) of Ivomec daily. Is this dose too high with his weight. The research I have done tells me it should be half of that. Does anyone know. And yes I take my pup to the vets all the time, just want some opinions. thanks

I was in petco and saw a food called Dick Van Patten's Natural balance dry. It said no corn, wheat, by products or fillers.
So is this almost or as good as canidae and innova?

My dog is 1.5 years old, he is a puggle (pug/beagle mix) he was always a very healthy weight. I have noticed that he seems to be thinning down A LOT i've tried giving him 3 different brands of dog food and he will eat them eventually, he seems hungry all the time, and will have food in his dish but won't touch it until he has to. We just had a baby and the dog has a habit of stealing his binky's and chewing on them do you think he could have eaten something off the binky and that could be causing him to lose weight? Or maybe he is just feeling under the weather. I figured i'd ask on here before calling the vet tomorrow morning. Thanks

This is the first time since I've had my 1 year old Corgi that it's rained all day. Usually, I can let her out in the backyard to run around after the morning rain has dried off. Today, it has rained all day and she's been cooped up inside except for the 30 minute walk we had this afternoon. She's been chewing on her bullystick for the most part and is otherwise bored. I wish I had one of those Buster Cubes or Tug-A-Jugs to keep her busy- are there any creative homemade toys like that?

I have played fetch and tug with her in the house, but I myself have work to do (I'm a student). Any ideas on keeping her busy? She doesn't like watching television either.

I have two German short haired pointer puppies. The female is 10 months and the male is 7 months. The female went into her first heat last month and we think they had an accident. My 10 month old puppy is pregnant. We can tell beacuse her nipples are swollan and they are bright pink Her stomach is getting like a pouch and she sleeps alot. I am so scared, beacuse a "puppy is having puppies" and she is not experienced. What can I do? Is there a slight possiblity she might have 2-3 puppies instead of 6 or 7. Help!!

I have two small shih tzus that attract a lot of attention from people. I don't mind people petting them, but I get very annoyed when people pick them up without even asking. Some people even cause the leash to pull on their necks because they don't pay attention to the slack on the leash? Does anyone else have this problem? How do you handle it?
