Probably an allergy to something. Get her allergy tested and try changing her food once you know what she's allergic to. My friend's Lab had HUGE allergies and was scratching himself to death. He was allergy tested, his food was changed, and now he's a new man.

Likely a dermatic skin condition. You can get specif dog shampoos such as for mange. But shampooing with a generic Tincture of Green Soap should likely clear up the problem. Flea treatments will usually clear up other parasite problems along with the fleas. So the dermatis is te logical step.

Lots of things it could be. Like allergies, or a skin disorder. Or just plain dry skin. Could be mange mites, but unlikely. Could also be a hot spot forming which is bacterial. Wash the dog in oatmeal dog shampoo and use conditioner afterwards. Add a fish oil capsule or two to her daily diet (I have a chihuahua and I give him two every day, so they are very safe). Most dogs will gobble them down like a treat.

My dog and my sis's dog do the same thing, neither of them have fleas. I think it is just a dog thing. Skin may be dry. They have some scented moisturizing spray at Petsmart that will help some. I think they just like to bite themselves.

Actually, I've had two dogs with this case! They both had skin allergies, crazy right? Even crazier, one was allergic to cats!
Ask a vet about it, I know mine gave me some type of pill that was for people allergies and pains to put in their food, but I don't remember what it was; sorry, hope I helped some!

Possibly mites, but most likely, it's cold where you are, you have been running the heat in the house, and she just has dry skin. If you wash her, try a mild shampoo from petco or the like. They should be able to help you find something.

It could be an allergy . Or maybe something wrong with her skin . My dog does this and my vet givers her something for it. Try taking her to a vet and see what they say .

Yes it could be something else - any type or mange, allergies, skin infection, hormonal problems. See a vet to find out which.

Sounds like skin allergies. I'd suggest giving her benadryl, but you should check with your vet first. My dog did the same thing, and that's the advice I received.
