I am planning on getting a pug, I have done a lot of research on the breed, but I was wondering if anyone who already has a pug could tell me a little more. ( like are they hyper, are they hard to potty train, can you train them to a potty pad, or do they do better outside, are they more dominant, or passive?) thanks for any advice or info!!

My sister used to own a pug, he first one wasn't so hyper but her second one was SUPER hyper. Both were cute though

You can't judge dogs just by their breed type, you have to meet the dog and see how they are. Every dog has a different temperment so go find a pug that your interested in and see how it acts with you and watch how it behaves and you'll find out how it is.

I have a pug. They love to play. They love attention. I dont know if I would say they are hyper though.
Pugs have a lot of health problems. My dog has eye problems and doesnt produce enough tears so I have to put drops from the vet in her eyes and clean the eye stuff out all the time.
Pugs have a flat face so they have a hard time breathing so you MUST keep them as indoor dogs because too cold or too hot can kill them. Plus a pug is a lap dog and it is cruel to keep this type of dog away from its people by keeping it putside.
They have a fold of skin above their nose that has to cleaned daily because it gets really dirty and nasty if you dont wipe it out. My dog lets me know when its bothering her because she tries to scratch the fold on the edge of the wall.

And pugs shed like crazy. It doesnt matter how much you brush them, there will be fur everywhere.

My pug was very easy to potty train although I didnt get her til was 2 years old. She peed once in the house when I first got her, I told her NO and she never did it again. Now she is 9.

My pug is not aggressive at all. She is very sweet with people and loves to play with other dogs although she does act a little weird with dogs she doesnt know. But she has never bitten a person or a dog.

yes, i have a pug. honestly, she is the sweetest dog i know. (not just saying that because she's mine.) it's like she always tries to protect me even though she is so much smaller. we chase eachother around, she gets so playful! then when you want her to be calm you just lay around and she gets all cuddly. she is like my bestfriend. yes it sounds wierd, but i still can't seem to find one thing wrong with her. my dog goes on a potty pad inside the house. my cousins have 2 pugs, and they are very loud and hyper. they play fight a lot but it does sometimes get agressive towards eachother. i guess, they just have different attitudes. my father had a pug when he was younger, and from what i have heard: the perfect dog! i've never heard a horrible story about pugs. all they want is love and care. i would deffinetly reccommend a pug. i've never met one that isnt a sweetie. :)

I have a pug. They are good little dogs. Ours uses puppy pads at night and a doggie door the rest of the time. He's been fairly easy to train. We have other animals in the house and gets along with all of them. He likes attention and follows everyone everywhere. Good luck.

I just adopted a 3.5 year old pug.She is no trouble, clean, and very sweet, we all love her. She seems to be a smart dog but she was housebroken already. She is not a hyper dog but likes to play and sit beside me all the time, she's a wonderful pet and I love her very much.

I haven't owned any, but I've groomed my share of them. They are some serious shedders.
I've seen some that are like rubber bouncy balls and some that are mellow. Some would try and bite and some could care less. I think it depends on the breeder and owner.
