We have a puppy, about 8 mos and 80 lbs. He is very smart and very out going and we spend a lot of time with him. He has been to obeidence classes and is pretty good with most things, except chewing. Inside he is fine, and outside a lot of times he is fine too, but...this month he has chewed up the following: 1 ethernet cable outside, 1 "Cable" cable outside right up to the box, the BURIED sprinkler wires he has dug up and chewed thru in 1 spot, ATE a bycycle helmet from the garage, the back door mat, the insulation around the air conditioner cold air return, and he has begun to dig...DEEP not just for usual fun. He is on a wireless fence so we have basically taken him OFF of a long line and moved him to that. He is confined to the back and side yards as we found he dug a lot in the front planters. This behavior has been happening a lot more in just the past month. He has LOTS to chew on outside that are NOT cables and OTHER things. And inside he is NOT bad. HELP?

We have a 1 and a half year old German Shepherd that LOVES to put his head out the window while we are driving. But once in a while he gets ear aches and will put his ear down and shake his head a lot. Is there anything that we can do to help his ear feel better, and what can we put on his head so that this doesn't happen again but he can still enjoy putting his head out the window?

I just got him and he really connected to my mom's dogs, but now when I go to bed I can't even take him with me because he howls and whines for me to let him out of my room. I can't let him sleep with my mom's dogs b/c even though they get a long, they won't let him sleep with them. Is there anything I can do to get him to stop fighting me and just go to bed in peace?

I own a two year old Jack Russell and every time she gets fleas we give her some flea medicine, the fleas go and every things fine after that. But, for the rest of the day my dog will hide in corners shaking and not eating. Is this normal, is she allergic?

I have read the other answers about the anal glands,it's not a fishy smell, more just like that wet dog smell!..But for a little dog she stinks up everything she comes in contact with?..she dosn't really itch herself!..I feed her little ceasars.I spray her with that pet cologne and she freaks out an trys to rub it off though it does make her smell good for a day!

I am trying to train my dog to go right on cue. We are out walking on a trail with 90 degree right turns. I have one leash on his harness to teach him to pull and one leash on his collar that's slack unless he does it wrong. I am using a clicker. Whenever we near a turn, I give him the command "Gee" and instead of turning, he turns his head and looks back at me, expecting a treat. What am I doing wrong?

This puppy was 1 out of a litter of 8 puppies born 3 weeks ago. The puppy was fine 12 hours ago but this morning can not move his body and has a muscus of some kind coming from his mouth and throat. He is crying so I know he must be in some kind of pain.

I am just curious? There are SO many questions on here about breeding - or my puppy is having a litter "WHAT DO I DO?" Etc.
I wonder, how many of these (so called) breeders actually think this out AHEAD of time?
What are the reasons they are having puppies? Is it because they are so cute, they want to let their children experience the miracle of birth, they think their female should be a mother and that she would love to have puppies, they want to better the breed, or - are they just doing it for the big bucks???
For you who are considering having puppies, you need to think long and hard about it. If you are doing it right, and have the Dam's best interest in mind (as well as the puppies) then you must realize that you aren't going to make the BIG BUCKS! You will, at the very best - break even, and that's not even likely. Can everyone share their stories of what's involved; the care, expense, time, placement, etc. of having puppies. It may make "some" people think twice.

Recently, a judge in Princeton, NJ, ordered that a 2 1/2 year old male German Shepherd named Congo be put to death because he attacked a landscaper. Before you pass judgment, here is the story:

The landscaper was supposed to arrive at the owner's house after 8:00am and showed up there at 7:00am. The owner's wife told the landscaper to stay in the car until her husband was done showering and could put the dogs in the house. The landscaper refused to listen to the woman and when the 3 Shepherd puppies began barking, he hit them on the head with a metal rake, leaving cuts and scratches on their
little heads and snouts. The puppies' mother was also hit on the head with the rake. The owner's young son was outside when all this was happening. When the wife told the landscaper to stop hitting the dogs, he grabbed her from behind and pushed her to the ground prompting the male Shepherd to run out of the house. Congo, the male
Shepherd, sat between the young boy and the wife until he

My dog is licking and biting his fur out. He has two large bald patches either side of his tail and is constantly licking. I've treated him for fleas and ticks to no avail. I have heard about a product called benzadryl. Does anyone know where I can get it from?

This was her first time, and they finally tied. But I think it was at the end of the second week. Her nipples are bigger and they seem like they are filling out and dropping could this be a sign that she is pregnant. And is there a way of knowing how many she will have. As I have been told you go by the number of nipples that produce the milk for the pups.

I have two 13 year old cats who have always had the run of the house. In May we got a puppy. I knew there was a chance that they might not want to curl up together but lots of dogs and cats co-exist quite happily. But sadly not in this house. The dog chases the cats and barks excitedly at them when he sees them and they hiss back at him. The cats have been forced into exhile and live upstairs. The dog isn't agressive and he is only medium sized. Is there anything at all I can do to get them to live more in harmony???

our staffy girl is 62 days pregnant with her third and final litter. She is absolutely HUGE!!!! but we cant seem to feed her enough. She just wants to eat and eat and eat (wich I kinda get cause I did too) but how much is TOO much??Should we watch her eating or just let her go? She is of course eating healthy and strange things like apple and frozen mixed veg????? She is on the puppy mix of HILLS Science diet as well as home cooked mince garlic veg and pasta. Just this morning she stole the toast off my small sons high chair (wich she would never usually dare do) so are we being nasty by not giving her a free range on what ever she would like to eat or do we just stick to the recommended amount for a pregnant and whelping *****? Oh by the way our dog has been wormed, she is a pedigree under vetrinarian care and we have researched heavily before breeding but this is one we havent come across before. Any opinions will be read and any helpful ones will be greatly appreciated
