Shes eaten a few meals today, but she has been having digestive problems and even had to go to an emergency center for an enema in the past. Since she again seems to be constipated i'm not sure whether i should feed her dinner...

The few vets she has been to are still unsure of the cause, but it may have been that her intestinal lining was damaged due to coccidia and worms (the pet store she came from is looking increasingly dodgy), and she now has a sensitive digestive system. She has been to vets multiple times to eleviate these conditions. Since the last time we have been feeding her a little dry food (science diet as recommended) but soaked in water to soften it, and finely diced chicken (as it is apparently easy to digest). I did feed her her third meal today as she seemed hungry, and she went to the toilet after this. But something is still wrong, she seems to be in pain, and can't sleep. She's trying to but keeps whining...i'm now tossing up whether or not to take her to the emergency vet again, (The cost of which was a couple of thousand last time). However she's uncomfortable, but perhaps it isn't an emergency...does anyone have any ideas what this could be?

How old is she?

You need to change what, and how you are feeding her.

Also, you said "she ate a few meals today". feed her three times a day as a puppy, period. No more.

While she is constipated you should feed her milky / eggy meals, and wet meat with vegetables in it, like carrots and beans. You can also add pureed fruit to her meals, which will help her a lot. You can gradually change her back to meat after a week or so.

You should look at the feeding regime you have her on and change it to suit her. Try to feed her once in a morning, early. Once again six hours later and again, six hours after that. keep to that routine and she will settle down. You may find she can never e fed completely on dried kibble but you may be able to mix it with wet food, once she is older.

Good luck

It depends on her age and how long she has been constipated. If it has just been 1 day and she is bright and happy then you most likely don't have a lot to worry about, you can withhold a feed if she is an older animal > 6months but make sure she has plenty of water and feed her in the morning (I'm presuming you are giving 2 meals a day).
If she starts to vomit get her to a vet ASAP!
Please none of the home remedies, if she has an obstruction giving things like mineral oil will only make matters worse same with the vaseline (do you use vaseline when you are constipated?).
Because she has had a previous episode of constipation it is a bit of a worry so keep a close eye on her and any sign of deterioration or straining without producing feces get her in to your vet straight away.
Good luck with everything

Give her some milk and put some vaseline on her lips, that she can lick off. It will help her. And yes do feed her, just take her to the vet if she hasn't pooped for 2 days.

Give the dog one or two teaspoons of canned pumpkin, not pie filling just the pure pumpkin. It will help regulate your puppy's system.

If this has happened before your veterinarian may need to do a physical exam along with blood tests, x-rays or other tests to determine the cause and it may also be necessary to go over its diet and its daily routine.

Take her to the vet if it's been a while, but of course you should feed her. Pay attention. If her appetite is waning something may be wrong.

if she has had emergency treatment for this same problem,, didn't the vet offer you preventative measures? offer her some applesauce
and switch her food to a high quality brand

Perhaps it is the type of dog food that ypu are feeding her. Next time you are shopping, buy a new brand of dog food. Try Pedigree 'better by nature' or Winalot 'roasts'. Pedigree better by nature has got carefully selected chunks of meat in thick gravy with tasty veggies like carrots. Winalot roasts has got carefully roasted meat smothered in thick gravy.
Your dog will love them, honest!
