This was her first time, and they finally tied. But I think it was at the end of the second week. Her nipples are bigger and they seem like they are filling out and dropping could this be a sign that she is pregnant. And is there a way of knowing how many she will have. As I have been told you go by the number of nipples that produce the milk for the pups.

It is still possible that your female is pregnant. A female's heat cycle last three weeks. The first week she is "coming into heat" The second week she releases eggs. The third week she is "going out of heat."

My guess is that she is most likely pregnant. Without an ultrasound or xray there is no way you can tell how many pups she will have. The number of nipples has nothing to do with it. It's the number of eggs her ovary releases.

We use to breed and show Chi's and I've had them have anywhere from 1 to 5. Ideally I liked them to have 3 to 4. When born they should be about the size of the palm of a woman's hand. And weigh abut 4 oz.

EDIT:
Small breed dogs can be safely breed on their first cycle as long as they are at least 8 to 10 months old. They mature sooner than large breeds which should not be breed until they are two.

You can not tell by the number of nipples producing milk how many puppies there will be, that is a myth.

Take the dog to a vet to be checked, and with the puppies once they're born. Obviously you're not a breeder, so why did you let your dog become pregnant? Don't you know how irresponsible that is? Please get the dog spayed once the puppies are weaned.

When you ask this question, have you thought of what problems you are creating? It's animal overpopulations. I don't understand why do you breed. The number of nipples she has doesn't mean how many puppies she's going to have. Also, when your Chihuahua has birth complications in the future, can you afford the vet bill for c-section? It's not easy to raise a litter and you cannot make big $$$ on this.

She probably is pregnant. Chihuahuas do have trouble giving birth sometimes. It being her first time she'll probably have 2 to 3 puppies. There will probably be a lot of bleeding. When my dog gave birth the first time there was a lot of blood and she only had two puppies. That's unusual for labs.
You may want to go to a vet and get her checked out. When the time comes she may need help delivering.

You have no business breeding your dogs if you have to ask this question. You have no clue about breeding. Breeding is more than sticking 2 dogs together. You got your dogs from backyard breeders and now your one. Stop using your pets as money making puppy machines. Get a job!!!!!!!!!!!

Be a responsible owner and get those dogs fixed for God's sake. UGH!

You should have not let her get pregnant so soon. Chihuahuas have a hard time having puppies as it is. She should have had at least two seasons, and preferrable the third one to insure she is fully grown and to have healthy pups.

Yes... my dog just went through that a month ago.. I'm not sure if she is preg but she has gained weight and a funny shape... go to google.com and look up pictures of pregnant chuiahuhas and go to the pictures in google if your dog looks like that in a month then i'm sure she is!

I can't stand people that tell you to wait.. if you have more then one dog... not too easy to seperate them lol so don't talk about waiting because i'm not seperating my dogs for two bleeding times!!
