I have a Lab and he puts his head out the window too, He was recently experiencing the same symptoms, so I took him to Pets-Mart, because I thought he had ear-mites, that's not it at all, he actually had a yeast infection in his ear, they recommend cleaning his ears with a solution they sell there at Pets-Mart and they prescribed a steriod, and I'm real pleased to say, he's completely happy and cured, they suggest cleaning his ears at least once a month with that cleanser and he can still hang out the window Good Luck

Our dog also had the same problem, but it turned out to be a yeast infection in her ear. You should probably take your dog to the vet and have them take a look at it because if it is a yeast infection that goes untreated, your dog could get worse. Other than that, clean out your dogs ears (not before you go to the vet or it may alter the results) once a week with water and cotton balls.

He doesn't get an ear ache from putting his head out the window.. He has ear mites, an infection, yeast infection or something like that.. You should take him to the vet and get the problem properly diagnosed so that you can get the poor guy treated properly.

He might enjoy eating poison too but would you allow him to do that? Comeon... do you let him play in traffic as well since he might LOVE to chase cars?
His ears aren't even the big potential problem here --- think EYES... stick your head out the window while in a car (please not while driving!) See how long it is before you have some junk, bug, rock, sand, whatever, fly into your eye and cause problems.. YOU are his owner so YOU are responsible for properly caring for him and that means you have to prevent him from getting injured for no good reason... as in jumping off of mountains just 'cause he might 'love' to jump ... running in front of trains, just 'cause he might 'love' to play beat the train...
Have the window cracked so he can sniff out the window but it is neglegent to allow him to have his head out the window. Actually he shouldn't be riding loose - just like having children in the car without safety restraints, the same is true of dogs -- they fly when a car gets in an accident or even stops suddenly... Please be a bit more responsible with the care of your dog.

Go to your vet. You can get a medicine to put in the dogs ear to clear up infection and kill mites all at the same time..It doesn't cost much and it works fast.

No remedies, yet you may desire to attempt something for people. lots of the remedies for animals are the comparable, diverse packaging, ie antibiotics, yet perhaps next time your on the vets ask for some greater ointment so which you have something if shes in discomfort for the duration of the weekend.

Dogs should not be allowed to put their heads out of the window of a vehicle. They can get particles inbedded in their eyes, nose, ears, face, they can get stung by insects etc.
As for his ears only your vet can prescribe appropriate treatment.

do not try to do anything at home. you need to take him to the vet. My dads border collie SAM is like that. one day he was sticking his head out the car window and some debris hit him! I only roll down the window far enough for him to stick his head out a little.
