I'm curious... I have 2 cats each 13 weeks old, and today I rescued a Boxer from a kill shelter knowing that it's not a cat friendly dog... I decided to leave my cats in one room while the dog is in the house and when the dog is outside during the day to let the cats roam the house. I won't put them together, knowing that this dog will chase them, I don't want anyone getting hurt, but this dog is a GREAT and AWESOME beautiful dog, and she's fitting in very nicely. I refuse to get rid of her OR my cats... has anyone ever retrained a dog to get along with cats... and how'd you do it? I know that cats and puppies when raised and socialized together get along fine, I have 2 other dogs that are well socialized with cats. My boxer however, is 5 years old and the previous owners didn't socialize her with cats. I adopted her, knowing this, but I took her in anyway to save her life, and I won't give her up now, and I don't regret it, but I want my cats to be safe as well. Help anyone?

Not everyone has access to an emergency vet or emergency hospital. Why do you not believe this when it is added in with a question?

We have a 10 week old mastiff and she does not listen very well. We would love to get rid of this while she is little. She will not come when called, she acts as though we are not even there. Also she is terrified of me for some reason, and I have never hit her or even really been mean to her, except when she does something wrong (just a stern voice, nothing serious) . She also will not walk on a leash at all, she just sits there and is a big pain. Anybody have any idea what to do with her?

here's mine:
1. Golden Retriever
2. Dashchund (not wire haired, long and shorthaired)
3. Siberian Husky
4. Labrador Retriever
5. Australian Shepherd.
What are your favorite breeds? Oh and I think that new herding dog that the AKC accepted to the AKC is ADORABLE. I can't remember what breed of dog it is though. Oh well. I'll look it up later.

Ok well I really need your help.! I am so worried about
my puppy. I have two puppies both brothers (by blood)
& we just qot them, but that's not the point really.

We went to the vet today and the older one
taz (i'm most concerned about) but anyways the vet shaved the back of his rear so his stool wouldn't
qet stuck in his fur. and he also commented that his skin was
very raw (really red) unlike his brother.(anqel)
Anqel has fleas and as well as taz.

But I am really worried about taz because the doctor
qave us various cremes to apply to his rear and this tube
that you put behind his neck and all the fleas die off an
one or two days. it's been one day but his beinq yelpinq
like crazy his been in so much pain, it doesn't seem as if tommorow he will be well. Anqel is better but not the best
he is still scratchinq himself

-Please has anyone been throuqh the same thinq or
similar?! sorry it's just that i'm worried. Alot!
should I just stay calm.
should i be worried

Ever since a few days ago, after my puppy eats, he carries his bowl into the other room and chews on it (he's still in that chewing stage). Well, tonight he picked up his bowl of water and dumped it out on the floor while I was on the phone. I had to get off and clean it up. I told him "No!" and then I fixed him another bowl of water. Not a couple minutes later, he had that dumped on the floor again and was carrying his bowl in his mouth. I gave him his food bowl after the first time he did that, because I don't keep him food where he can get it all day (because he will eat it all).

anyways, my question is: Has your puppy ever did this? He just did this today? and my dad told me to keep the water up from him until he goes over there looking for it. But I don't know.. Could he just be attracted to the bowls? Do you have any suggestions?

He's a yellow labrador. and he's getting to be well behaved other than this incident.

Thanks in advance.

We have an American Eskimo dog, and he came in one evening with his hip and leg shattered by a coyote, should we get a big dog that will keep the coyotes away? Or set traps for them, or what do you all do?

my dog just passed today while I was at school. My uncle told me that he passed. My mom and dad both said for me to mop and everything to get rid of the smell. I had mopped with HOT water and I scrubbed. Is there anything else we could do?? We have linoleum floors.

When I hear about animals who are tortured I want to throw up. There's a show running on HBO right now about PETA and the things they see as they try to rescue lab animals, etc. and when I see that the show is on I have to turn the channel. I even have a real hard time going to a shelter that euthanizes the animals that aren't adopted because when I look into their precious eyes and I know the chances are they will be killed evenually. I really wish I wasn't so weak. Please tell me what you think.

This afternoon I walked him and he walked fine. Then at 5 I walked him and he kept pulling.

Why?

Do I need to keep on working with him? Or is he just being a brat?

He is a Lab/Rotti/Husky.

They are not very sore, she only started scratching one yesterday and the other today.
They are not inflamed yet and have a very small amount of brown debris inside. I have treated and cleaned them with E V olive oil. This has eased them but I am wondering if she is starting with ear mites? I have some Selamectin, which is licensed to treat dogs for earmites, and fleas and worms.
She was wormed with Drontal two weeks ago.
Advice from those "in the know" would be appreciated.
Thanks
