your dog should not be bleeding out of her bottom you need to see a vet if this a true question?

A dog will go in season, and they will bleed from the vagina. If this is the case, they sell diapers for females in heat at your local pet store. If you are SURE it is coming from her bottom, then she needs to be seen by a vet. Anal bleeding in any species is bad. They don't have "periods", but they go in season, and unless you want some unwanted attention, not to mention unwanted pregnancy, from the the male dog population in your neighborhood, you need to make sure she is kept inside and away, or if she must go out, a doggy diaper is a must. She needs to be kept on a lead during this time, to insure she is not romanced.Having her spayed is the best way to go.

Dogs don't have periods. They have 'heats' or 'seasons' - different from human periods. Humans bleed when they've finished ovulating, when their uterus is flushing out. Dogs bleed while ovulating, and it is nothing compared to the amount of blood produced during a human's 'period'.

Is the blood coming from her anus (directly under her tail) or her vulva? (below her anus). If she hasn't been spayed and if over 6 months of age, it's very likely she's in heat. Keep her FAR away from other dogs, and do not let her off her leash, if she's in heat.

If the blood is in fact coming from her anus, then you better get her to a vet post-haste. If she is in fact in season, it is very important to have her spayed - phone a vet and get her booked in for when they're willing to do it, most vets would prefer not to until the heat is finished unless there's a chance they're pregnant.

Your dog must be spayed for the sake of her health. With ever season she has, the chance of her avoiding mammary cancer in later life diminishes. If she remains entire, she has a 25% chance of developing the potentially fatal condition, pyometra. To say nothing of ovarian and cervical cancers, as well as risking adding to the already over-population of pet dogs.

I think the is a call to be told to go to the vet. Either if she's bleeding because she's in heat she needs to go to get spayed. If she is really bleeding out of her bottom then i suggest you take her to figure out what's wrong with her. So to sum it all up for you, take her to the vet ASAP! =)

If she is bleeding from her "butt" she needs to see a vet immediately, can be life threatening. I dog bleeds from their vulva like any other mammal when they cycle. Is she spayed? If she is and she is bleeding from her vulva she needs to see a vet immediately as well. How old is she?

Let me give you 4 reasons why you shouldnt own a pet:

1. dogs dont have periods, it's called a heat cycle.
2. it's cocker SPANIEL
3. if you were bleeding out of your butt would you take yourself to a doctor?
4. Get your cocker SPANIEL spayed!!

The first opening under her tail is her anus - that's where the poop comes from. If the blood is coming from there, you need to take her to a veterinarian.

Look underneath that. Your dog's vulva (the spongy tissue that protects the opening to her vagina) has probably swollen up a lot from normal. If she's in heat, that is where the blood is coming from.

well hopefully she isn't bleeding from her butt.

both areas are close together if she is bleeding from her "whoo whoo" she is in heat.

I would still take her to the vet just to make sure since you think she is bleeding from her butt.
