I am divorced 41 y/o career woman living in a fancy condo with white carpet, white furnitures and white silk curtains. For a few years life has been about making money and climbing to the top in my field...till my American cocker came into my life.

Now life is about him.

My floors are covered with dog's toys...I don't care
My precious white carpets have spots all over...I don't care
My fancy furnitures are covered with blankets ....I don't care
He lays at the bottom of my silk curtains and....I don't care
My black suits are covered with blond dog hair...I don't care
My running shoes are wet inside, not sure if it's dog pee or spit....I don't care...haha.

I am at the dog park every day, my city will issue me my own tag soon.

I used to spend my weekends shopping for shoes, now I shop for fat and sugar free dogs treats.

He's in the back of my mind all the time and going home to him is something I look forward every minute of the day.

A lot of people jump on other breeds for problems, but this one really bugs me. Why is it that there are still Dobermans with Von Willebrands? There is testing for this disorder, and it is well known if you breed 2 affected dogs together then you will have an entire litter of affected pups, and if you breed 1 parent that is affected and 1 that is not, then you will get an entire litter of pups that are carriers. So, why is it that breeders in this breed have not bred this out of the Doberman?

My dog is 12 yrs old and is in really good shape. Everyone thinks she is years younger than she is. But recently I have noticed that she has become obsessed with drinking water. If its raining she drinks puddles, she'll drink as much water as I give her. Should I be concerned?

Each dog is an individual? I see so many ask why their new dog doesnt act like their old dog? I have two grown sons that have same mom, same dad and are nothing alike. Some breed their dogs because " I want one just like her when she goes" or even buy a different breed and wonder why their Border Collie doesnt act like their Pug. I wonder how many dogs end up in the pounds because their owners wanted them to act like a dog they used to own? Do you think own expectation is one reason dogs end up in shelters?

I want to exercise my dog more to improve her behaviour. She is very hyper 18 month old GSD lurcher, which a strong mind and can run forever! I've started taking her out in the morning before she eats her brekkie for a run next to me on my bike (its the only way I can go fast enough). She loves it, and has adapted to it very well. However, I'm not the fittest person. She could run more than what I can give her. What other ways are there to exercise your dog? I also give her a proper walk every day, and an evening trot round the block. But she's STILL not tired!!!
She's not obedient enough around other dogs to do flyball or agility, unfortunately.

My 1 year old lab retriever went under general yesterday, to have his ears flushed and bloodwork done for allergies. We picked him up at 5pm but since he got back he's been straining and unable to poo. He's also been rubbing his **** along the floor a bit, but it cant be worms as he was wormed only 2 weeks ago. He seems to be in some distress over this as he is whimpering a bit... it's 16 hours later now.

We fed him when we got back yesterday but havent since...

my dog knows this little puppy and when they first meet, they were really interested in each other and then my dog started to display signs of dominance such as sitting on the puppy etc. (not humping it as he is desexed). well they still played together really well but we hadnt seen the dog in months. now, its grown up quite and just then, when they met, my dog began to furiously growl at the dog. i was so surprised. i had NEVER in my whole life seen my dog acting like this before. he had never been so fierce or growled so loud before. he looked like he was going to hurt it. i immediately seperated the two and the owner (who was a friend of mine) took her dog away and i took mine away and told him off for what he did. he knew he had down something wrong because he slinked off. what i want to know is, why would my dog would suddenly behave like this with a dog he knows?
the other dog is male so does my dog feel threatened by him?
thanks

My neighbor gave me his Rottweiler. He kept the poor thing outside chaned to the side of his garage. I called the Humane Society once on him. But for some reason, nothing happened. But I guess they got more complaints on the dogs condition. A couple of days ago, he gave me the rotty. His name is Hoss.

I took him to the vet yesterday. He got his shots, and was tested for heartworm. He came back positive. His is between 8 and 9 years old. The vet said that Hoss may not live through his treatment. He told me I needed make a decision on Hoss's future. I don't want to give up on him, he is a very good dog, but I don't want hem to suffer. What would you do?

When I adopted my dog the vet advised to use Advocate as flea and heartworm treatement. My dog also needs to have a tick collar because we are in a paralysis tick infested area and the vet nurse check to see if they were compatible (which they were). My question is, my dog thinks it's a game when I try and keep her still when I apply it. I get most of the stuff on her actual skin but some of it ends up just on her hair. I was just wondering if even with maybe not the whole dosis it is still effective against heartworm or should I maybe switch to heartworm tablets so at least I'm 100% sure she is protected?

I can get this medicine for my dog about $25 cheaper than from the vet but I've never done business with them. The medicine cost $90 at the vet and 1-800-PetMeds says they have it for $65 and shipping is free. Has anyone bought stuff from them and were you happy with the transaction?

my dog has allergies to the point that he chews all four paws and limps around constantly. I have yet to find a vet that can help. He has had blood work done, he has taken the injections, prednizone, and that costly new drug called atopica. Absolutely nothing is helping. He has the yeast infection in three of his paws right now. Is there anyone out there that may know some way to help him. And whoever "D" is.....please don't answer my question with one of your obnoxious remarks.

I have been trying for months now with no real cure. I have tried pills from the vet, K9 advantix, Frontline, I'm not sure what to do for her. I have spent so much money and she is still miserable. It seems to get better for a couple of days with the K9, but no difference at all with the Frontline. I don't know what to do and after charging me $200 the vet didn't help much either. Any suggestions? I don't know if the spot treatments just don't work as well on dogs with hair instead of fur or what. I just want to find some way to help my poor dog.
Thank you for any help you can give me.

They are always saying you should spay or neuter your dog, without even seeing your dog. So I think everyone sould do the human gene pool a favor and neuter these nuts!

I found my dog chewing on an EastPower heavy duty AA battery. She got most of the covering off (which is black and green) AND bit through the battery. Some (not too much though) black stuff leaked out. I'm not sure if she licked some of it or not. I looked on the battery to see any warning and there wasn't anything. I'm really worried that it could be lethal for her. It's 9:37pm at night and obviously there aren't any animal hospitals open. Does anyone know ANYTHING about those batteries.

If anyone has any helpful answers I'd really appreciate it.
Thank you soo much!

Probably a ridiculously dumb question, but my mother had my male dog neutered while I was way in college and I was wondering if there was anyway that could be reversed? He means the world to me and I want to carry on his blood line.
