ok, first of all, I LOVE animals and i love dogs especially but my boy friend has an adorable chiuauha and he treats it like its his child! we cant go out to the movies unless he can find someone to watch the dog. when we are watching tv, the dog will try to jump on the couch and when he does, he scratches my legs up because his claws are so sharp and my boyfriend just says "he's just a dog he didnt mean to" but he still wont train him! i feel like a dog should be treated like a pet not a human.it is so frusterating.
the dog had free reign on the house, when he uses the bathroom on the floor, my boyfriend just cleans it up, and doesnt do a thing about it. what should i do?!

My dog Gigolo just got surgery last week and we got the tests to the biopsy. I have no idea what the hell it says though, even the doctor couldn't explain it.
Microscopic Description: These are sectors of haired skin derived from a single submitted specimen. Portions of the dermis are effaced by dense accumulations of inflammatory cells consisting of a mixture of macrophages and neutrophils, which often surround fragments of hair shafts.

Microscopic Findings: SKIN: PYOGRANULOMATOUS DERMATITIS WITH ENDOGENOUS FOREIGN MATERIAL (HAIR SHAFTS)

Comment: The lesion is the result of previous furunculosis and a chronic foreign body reaction to hair shafts released from ruptured hair follicles. A bacterial or dermatophyte infection may be the underlying cause.

*I'm pretty sure I spelled everything write, I doubled checked. Can someone please tell me what the hell is wrong with my dog. The doctors are stupid.

A friend of mine has 3 dogs (2small-1large) she's thinking about getting another small dog. Would 4 be to much?

Note: She takes good care of the 3 she has. She is not a "breeder/backyard breeder" She has all her dogs up to date with their shots and all 3 are spayed/neutered.

i've found this device that u can hang on a tree that is a high pitched sound frequency thing that will piss a dog off when it barks, do you think its illegal to put this on a tree that is on my property but close enough to shut this yapping dog up so i can get a decent nights sleep?

My grandpa's pomeranian has been with us since the summer. He's breath smells so bad. No joke, it is the worst thing I have ever smelled. It smells a little like poop and or rotten eggs. He's pretty old and has a habit of licking his poop when he's out side. We give him breath fresheners (Pedigree breath busters) but it's not working. Some times he sleeps under my bed and his breath wakes me up. And he licks himself ALOT. Whenever he's laying down he has to lick his paws. He'll lay down by the couch and you have to tell him to leave because him just laying near you is too much too bear. He's a good dog and doesn't have too many other probelms but his breath is just uhh. Any help or advice is greatly apreciated. THANKS!

Yesterday my mail delivery woman-********* ran over my dog!!!! Let me start with saying....I live in the country. Our House is 1 mile away from the main road. Our Driveway is a gravel one lane path. There are only 2 houses on the property besides mine.
I was standing outside with my dogs when she did it!!! Everyday she goes by my house easily going 30 mph (on a gravel rd).
I live outside the city limits so there is not a leash law.
It could have been avoided had she cared or gone slower. Her excuse was "most dogs run after me not infront of me"!!
The post master is telling me they cannot be held responsible for vet bills.
Has anyone had something like this happen to them or anyone u know?
I have two dogs. My husband and I have been married for barely 2 years...these are our children. They're indoor dogs, we just let them out to potty but we always stand outside with them.
any suggestions would be appreciated!

Also, is it generally a same day procedure (will she go in the morning and have me pick her up at night) or is it an overnight stay? Thanks!!

I have two dogs, both fairly young (a 3 year old cocker spaniel, and a 1 year old mutt). I first noticed that my cocker spaniel and fleas, and I checked the other dog and he seemed to be fine. I treated my cocker, and a week or so later noticed my mutt had fleas as well. I treated him, only to notice my cocker got them again! So, that means my other dog probably has them again too! I realize now I should have treated them both at the same time. It's been probably 2-3 weeks since I've treated the cocker, and about 1 week since I treated my little mutt. Would it harm them if I gave them both the flea treatment again in such a short period of time? I have 2 more tubes K9 Advantix. I hate to see my children gnawing at their fur. :(

My 13 week old springer (who has had 3 sets of shots already) has a runny stool. When I got him he on Purina? but I changed it (over 3 weeks) to Wellness. This is the fifth day on Wellness only. And at puppy school they did give him a new treat he's never had (3 days ago).Yesterday he had a solid poop but at the end it was like pudding. Today his stool is runnier - no blood - but he did vomit yesterday (grass in it). He isn't lethargic and he is drinkin/eating. Lastnight he did hide under my bed for a while but was coaxed out with a small piece of kibble. One more thing, the vet recommended Virbac Enzyme oral hygiene chews (he is bored with toys) and he has been chewing those. He seems to be straining a little when he poops as well. I am going to take the kibble away and try some white rice - and have read tha Wellness sometimes causes this. Any advice?

Topic: Rules in the House
What are some of the rules your dog has to obey in the house?
With the DDQ it was with Furniture rules so I thought what may be some just House rules. No taking food from the counter, eating after the master. Every household has different rules that go with the comfort of the family and daily routines and also the people.
We cannot call a rule a bad one if it doesn't involve harming it in anyway. Every rule is based on the household.
Care to share any rules you have? What are some rules we should consider putting?

We got a puppy two weeks ago. She is 2 months old today and she is still not potty trained. We have tried everything and its still not working. She pottys when shes alone, she crys alot if we leave her for one second. When we walk she walks with us but grabs at our pants. She gets really agressive when we walk.
I just need help in two things:
1. How do I potty train her?
2. How do I get her to stop whining when shes alone?
3. What can I do to stop her from biting the bottom of our pants?

Shes a good puppy but she is REALLY attached.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Ok, I have been doing a LOT of research on dog breeds and what will be the best large dog breed for me and my young family. My wife has talked me into maybe getting a Newfi, and I have done as much research as you can on the breed browsing the internet. My questions to you all is, how good is this breed in general with Young children. I have a 6 month old, and I plan on getting a dog when he is about year to a year and a half. I understand the basics about the dog LOTS of hair, high chance of slobber, vet bills so on an so fourth. I read they are good with children but I want to know specifics. Please let me know! Thank you all so much.

So I just got new furniture in my house. We decided that with the new couch we were going to have a new rule, NO DOGS ON THE NEW COUCH!

I'm not trying to be a mean mom. They have giant dog beds that I drag from room to room so they aren't on the floor. In our old house, they weren't all allowed on the couch all the time anyway, we only let them up when we watched tv and we invited them (1 or 2 at a time).

This got me to thinking. What's the furniture rule in your house? Is it a free for all? Are they allowed on the furniture? Are they banned from all furniture? At one point we had a Dog Love Seat (we got rid of it because it was was falling apart and smelled doggy). Where do your dogs sit? Do you drag your dog beds from room to room like me or am I a nut? Or do you have dog beds in every room?

Please share your furniture stories with the group. I'm sure I'm not the only one who had a dog love seat and is now saying no dogs on the new couch... =)
