I have two dogs, both fairly young (a 3 year old cocker spaniel, and a 1 year old mutt). I first noticed that my cocker spaniel and fleas, and I checked the other dog and he seemed to be fine. I treated my cocker, and a week or so later noticed my mutt had fleas as well. I treated him, only to notice my cocker got them again! So, that means my other dog probably has them again too! I realize now I should have treated them both at the same time. It's been probably 2-3 weeks since I've treated the cocker, and about 1 week since I treated my little mutt. Would it harm them if I gave them both the flea treatment again in such a short period of time? I have 2 more tubes K9 Advantix. I hate to see my children gnawing at their fur. :(

Since Advantix keeps working for a month, you shouldn't have to reapply - SO LONG AS you got the stuff on the dog's skin, not their fur, they will be covered.

By now, the flea will have laid many eggs in your home and they will have hatched out. It's important therefore that you treat your house - please get a proper spray from your vets, not from a pet store. You may have to spray your house twice, 10 days apart, to get any newly hatched eggs.

Both of your dogs are currently covered by treatment (so long as it went on the skin!!) so there's really no point in reapplying at this stage - concentrate on treating the house.

Flea dips and shampoos do not work, the do not kill the flea eggs, you can de flea them both at the same time again, if the problem persists, change in 4 weeks time to Frontline, this is more effective, also if your dogs are in the house, you need to treat every where that they have been, as eggs will bed in furniture, carpet, tiles, bedding etc, you can buy a spray at your vets for the house, do not use if pregnant and remove fish and birds from the house for an hour or two when spraying, read the can and it will explain all, the purpose is to rid the area of fleas so that they cannot recontaminate,

I would recommend batheing them both really good with a good flea and tick shampoo. Make sure that you bathe the whole body except the head, let the shampoo sit for about 5 minutes, then rinse from top to bottom, once you finish with thtat, wash the head, but be very careful! About 2-4 days after the bath, put a flea treat, ent on them both.

It will clearly state the minimum re-treat period on the packaging. Follow it to the letter.
Also, it is equaly, if not MORE important to trat the house,m as you have seen fleas. Fleas live in the soft furnishings, and only hop on board a passing dog - or human - for a feast!
Good luck
