Even if it's a mixed breed, if it's deemed aggressive, then they most likely won't allow it. Chows are one of the listed aggressive breeds.

I have a chow, as does my sister. I would not consider them aggressive at all. My sister adopted her chow when my nephew was just 3 yrs old. Never a problem with either. We understand the breed, and with any dog they have certain limits. Chows make great guard dogs, yet they know the difference between a stranger and a family member. Plus in our cases both dogs mix well with cats. I do not believe certain breeds are aggressive, if some dogs are aggressive it's either because they were raised to be aggressive or because they feel threatened. I also have a pit/lab mix who is the biggest and sweetest baby. He may look rough and tough, but he's all heart. He looks forward to the neighborhood children coming over to see him.

Both breeds have the potential to be on the "aggressive" list. What is stupid though is you can have a Shepherd/Chow that is a sweetheart, and you can have a ferocious Lab.
I personally don't get those aggressive breed stereo types, but I would say that Yes, both of those breeds would likely qualify as a potentially dangerous breed to the idiots that go by that crap type of generalization.
Sorry your appartment does that. I think it is assinine.

Don't tell, I rent a home that says the same thing!!! I have what you would call a pit bull and so would the insurance company that is saying they wont insure the apartment complex if there is aggressive breeds. My dogs are licensed as American Staffordshire terriers the technical name for Pit bull. Go to pet finder and look at a staffordshire terrier!!! Its a pit but it will not say pit bull in the description. Call this shep/chow mix a mix, if that don't work say he is Newfoundland and lab mix use the lab color as the decoy if this dog is Shepard colored say it was yellow lab if its brown chocolate lab if its black the Newfoundland was black

perhaps. you would have to ask for a list of aggressive breeds in your state, as they will vary. It depends on the dog's personality. If he is sweet and very well trained, then the landlord will most likely okay it.
Most of the breeds that are meant by "aggressive breeds" are Rotties, Dobermans, and Pits.

That's a broad category. A better restriction would have probably been 'no aggressive dogs'! But knowing that apartments are usually really strict in their rules, I'm assuming they probably would consider this a dangerous breed mix. Call them and ask though. Maybe they could do a one on one meeting with your dog.

Chows usually fall into that stereotype. Check with the manager. Aggressive breed usually lumps all bully breeds, chows, shar pei and rottwiellers together. Occasionally Doberman is thrown in as well.

in many circumstances dogs seen to be 'aggressive' comprise, rotties, pitbulls, dobermans, or exceptionally lots breed of dogs linked with secure practices, and violence (dogs combating rings, and probably police dogs even). I actual have seen german shepherds contained in the class of 'aggressive' as nicely. it extremely is not a remember of the certainly breeds temperament, yet human beings's assumption of their temperament based upon undesirable human scientific care, engagement in immoral activities that sends the incorrect impressions. And maximum probably the home is asserting this to ward off the uneducated human beings's worry of the breed, and means regulation suits because of the fact of it. possibility is (i've got seen it) only on account which you observed a dogs is a few breed they have this psychological image that it is terrible, and that they do no longer comprehend that like human beings there are exceptions, even to misconceptions. Be truthful with the renters, and attempt to describe the misconceptions and suggestions, regardless of if it is predicated upon their judgements. terrific of luck, and she or he's an lovable doggy.
