I have a 95 lbs choco lab who stays in the garage or back yard depending on whats going on outdoors. He went to the dog pound 3 weeks ago and ended up with kennel cough, so I have been keeping him in the house until his round of medicine is over.
He has chewed up everything in the house including my brand new shoes which I have only worn once and a rug, some mail etc.....
In Illinois its about 60 degrees and the wind is about 30 miles per hour today (very windy) so I brought him in and he stays in the utility room which is about 20x30 feet next to the kitchen.
My friend thinks I should leave him outdoors because he says its not cold and he is used to it out there.
Should I put him back in the back yard with his garage or let him lay here and chew up everything? He destroyed my shoes while I was in bed sleeping or cooking lunch.

Dogs and cats were naturally evolved to have claws so why do we have the right to rip them out of there feet? I think it is un necessary and cruel. If you don't want to have your furniture ripped or damaged then why have pets, childern etc.
Whats next teeth extraction becase the dog MIGHT chew up your 3 peice suite?

Please can someone open my eyes as to why anyone would want to do this as I really can't get my head round it.

Thanks

What is the most demanding dog right now?
There are TONS of Labs out there.
I have the room, and funds to start up a very nice kennel and TONS of love to give.
I want it all to be legal and legit. My vet will stand behind me for help.
Any help would be greatly appreciate.

I moved to an area where ALL the stores around me sell nothing but crappy dog food such as pedigree or IAMS. There are absolutely no stores that sell the good and rare kind of dog food. Even worse, any online store carrying these good/rare dog foods will not ship to my area. I don’t have much to work with. I also don’t have the time and resources to work with a raw food meal. This is how I feed my dog, so far:
I buy frozen/uncooked chicken
I cook the chicken, adding no salts and/or seasonings.
I put the cooked chicken in the refrigerator and feed my dog this chicken for 5-7 days.

I know chicken is good, but not enough. Tell me, in regards to what I am doing so far, good or bad? Can chicken last in the fridge for 5-7 days without going bad? Tell me, what other foods (that I can buy from a regular grocery shop) should be added to the meal. Vegetables?

While you fine people help me out, I’ll go on Google some stuff myself. Thank you.

sometimes I go into a pet store to look at and play with the puppies (I feel bad for them!) and I start thinking - I know we shouldn't support the puppy mills by buying those puppies - but those poor puppies, it wasn't THEIR fault they got into those pet stores. Sigh I guess it's a catch 22. I want those poor puppies to have loving homes, but I don't want to support puppy mills. What do you think?

Why do people ask medical emergency questions on YA? If I have a true emergency I am not likely to take some stranger on the internets advice but would call my own vet or the vet service that calls redirect to after office hours. I don't understand how people can run to their pc and YA to ask whether their dog bleeding to death on the floor is a bad thing or an emergency. Behavior, training or even general shared advice I can understand but.....

Would you trust answers from anyone on the internet to offer life and death advice?

I found out my dog has tapeworms today. I have the pill to give her, but doesn't it make sense to put Frontline on and kill the fleas before I give it to her, to make sure she doesn't re-infect herself? I also just gave her a bath this afternoon, so, I was thinking I'd wait for two days to put the Frontline on and then give that another day to work before I give her the pill.
Is this Ok?

one of my neighbors lets her little dog do whatever it wants. it runs in the middle of the street and almost gets hit many times a day, almost bites people, chases school kids and scares them and to top it off, she doesn't let him poo in her yard. She lets him go out in the neighborhood where it crawls under fences and poos in people's nice yards and barks at them when they try to sho him away from THEIR own yard. She's been reported many times and plays it off like "well I'm just an old lady and he's too fast" but I see her let him do this! Is there anything that can be done?

how much it would cost to feed a 50 lb pit and a 70lb lab all raw diet including a veggie slop...just an estimate would help from someone who knows. this is my only concern... that im going to go broke if i feed raw to two dogs. i have read about BARF online and that really answered most of my questions so i would be using their guidelines

Bailey is very hyperactive and loves to play. She loves taking walks and associating with larger dogs. She loves attention but doesn't like to be petted. She has floppy ears. She's really, really cute.

My minituare poodle had a low platelet count develop shortly after getting a shot. Obviously I have had her to the Vet and used medication to take care of the immediate problem.

I'm just a little nervous about her next round of immunization shots next year.

Of course, I can't be 100% certain the shots caused her problem, but I am suspicious. I'm just curious if anyone else here has had an issue.
