It's a left over instinct from their wolf days of living in the wild, and what they're doing is going round and round to trample down the grass, weeds, brush, etc. underneath them to make a nice soft place to lay down.

It's their natural instinct. Out in the wild, before they laid down to sleep they would turn round and round to make sure there weren't any snakes or other dangerous things in the brush they were about to sleep on. It also tramples it down and makes it more comfy.

Instict. She's smushing down the grass with the intention to make a comfortable mattress. this could be a factor of her den instict! My pittie circles like ten cases before laying down, and now and back she isn't happy so she gets up and does it back, and pushes the blankets around together with her nostril... Oh, and in case you attempt to resign her or ask her to place down she would be in a position to for a 2nd, then she'll be up and circling back! in simple terms between the failings you will ought to study to love approximately having a doggie!

I always thought it was a nesting instinct. And maybe so they can get a lay of the land if they need to make a run for it in the middle of the night.

Its an old instinct. They go around to make sure nothing is there and to look out for enemies before they sleep. Also to make it a little more comfy. ;)

They say it's because the dogs of previous generations had to sleep outside and soften the hard stuff on the ground, so that it wouldn't hurt their cabooses. lol
