I just adopted her and they said she was spayed but I dont know how to tell! She has no scars that are visable on her belly. I dont have the first clue on what to look for! Although she is VERY interested in boy dogs!

I have a 3 yr old Shiba Inu....we just got him about a week ago. I bought Mighty Dog cans for him to eat & Companion Dry Food...where he came from before he moved in with us, they didn't have him on a food schedule, and all they really fed him was Table food. I mean anything..not just the meats...

Tomorrow for dinner I am going to cook him up so hamburger meat & white rice and mix it in with about a quarter of the can of the dog food. I was also gonna mix in pieces of hot dogs, and ham & cheese. Everyday day I was gonna keep adding more dog food, and less table food.

Is what I am doing okay? Is the meat, rice, hot dogs, & ham okay for him...or at least better than other kinds of table food?

And is weening him off okay to do?

He hasn't pooped for 3 days, until tonite..and hasn't really ate at all.

I understand he is adjusting to his new enviroment, and new people...and he isn't used to being on a schedule and being walked 3x a day, so is that he could just be stressed?

did any reasearch before they bought their first dog. Learned about the breed, and what it was all about? Learned about responsible pet ownership, and what it entailed? Learned about nutrition, spaying and neutering, and training? Anyone learn anything at all about their dog at all before they got him?

My 8 year old border collie has a "bit" of a dominance issue,
now it's no problem to us when he's just in the house with me and the rest of the family, but when i try to walk him, the second he sees an other dog he lunges and tried to attack them. i've tried various training methods but none of them have worked. I only just recently realized that he's had a dominance problem since I got him when he was 2, but he's never attacked an other dog until a few months ago. I think it might also have to do with his age, and the fact that he's going blind. and he is neutered, just so you all know.
so is this a lost cause ? or is there still a chance for my dog to go out for a walk without trying to kill an other dog ?

I heard that it is possible to give regular asprin to a dog. Is it true? I have a 6 pound chihuahua, so how small would I want to cut up the asprin, or could I just give him baby asprin?

My 5mo. old doxie was doing very good with house breaking, in fact she had gone about a month w/out an accident. But here recently she has begun urinating very frequently, roughly once every 30-45 minutes and having accidents w/out giving any indication that she needs out. Could there be a medical reason for this or is she just being obstinate?
Another thing I've noticed is she licks herself constantly and bites her stomach area until there are visible sores. This could be related or it might be a reaction to something in our grass.

Help?!

My dog, 6 1/2 year old german shepherd mix, has recently(past 6 months)started BITING!! The first person she bit was the cop that lives down my streets 3 year old son, well she actually tried to bite him but I pulled her back fast enough that she didn't make any contact. The next was my 3 year old cousin, and she actually bit her, but it didn't break the skin. And then was my 8 year old neighbor, and she didn't bite because I caught her and called her before she actually made contact.
We have talked about finding her a home with NO kids, but she has been with us for so long that we couldn't do that to her. Even though she is the greatest thing I have right now, I cant risk actually hurting a family or a neighborhood child. And I have mentioned a muzzle and the prong collar to my family, but they considered it animal cruelty and yelled at me. She is an inside dog, we got her from the pound, the people before us abused her with sticks and hit her. And I really don't want her to go back.

I posted this question last month, but I would like a few more answers.

My neighbor's dog always licks itself when it sees me. Some people said I am making the dog nervous. I've never harassed the dog and normally just walk by the gate and say hello. I can see it sniff for a few seconds and then it immediately goes into this crouching position and start licking itself. Once I walk away, the dog will sit back up and wait for me. And when I come back...it starts licking again! The dog is a pitbull (about 3 years old).

i adopted my dog last year, hes a 7yr old am staff who's neutered. he has been totallly fine until the end of september when he started to try and eat through the front door of my apartment. this has progressively gotten worse to the point of him chewing my ipod, backpack, snowboarding jacket, purses, etc. when he is left alone he is in a ex-pen he pushes over, the radio is left on, his breakfast is put in a buster cube as well as he has fresh water and a kong full of peanut butter. i'm assuming this is stemming from the turbulent year we've had but i dont know what to do with him now. i am not considering giving him away cause that will only make things worse.
after i got him we moved and he used to come to work with me, which he hated so i started leaving him at home with the cat and he was fine. then we moved again due to some bad luck, where he and another dog killed my cat. since that wass only a temp living arangement we have moved once more and he;s by himself... HELP!!!

My dog has two hot spots on her tail (on the side of it, maybe 4-5 inches down). She doesn't have fleas or ticks. And her food was switched and we still couldn't get rid of them. It's really bothering me. We've tried bandaging it, but it doesn't help because she just pulls it off. We've tried nearly everything. But my stupid (excuse me) grandfather keeps giving her dog biscuits and cookies (maybe one a day). I'm starting to think that that's the problem. And, if my memory serves me correctly, she's had them for as long as he's been living with us. But the problem is that he doesn't like ANYONE telling him what to do. And he doesn't seem to care, I'm guessing he thinks it's 'cute' when he feeds her (*from the table...*). What type of foods cause dog allergies???
