I posted this question last month, but I would like a few more answers.

My neighbor's dog always licks itself when it sees me. Some people said I am making the dog nervous. I've never harassed the dog and normally just walk by the gate and say hello. I can see it sniff for a few seconds and then it immediately goes into this crouching position and start licking itself. Once I walk away, the dog will sit back up and wait for me. And when I come back...it starts licking again! The dog is a pitbull (about 3 years old).

I don't wear heavy perfume. The dog will normally lick its legs or paws, but sometimes it has licked its genitals! The way the dog crouches down is in a shy kind of manner....like it is turning its body away from me. But I like I said, everytime I move away, the dog will sit back up and wait for me to come back.

i do not concepts calm and quiet dogs. dogs that are confusing to study extremely annoy me. that is like those dogs who've a similar wagging tail and intensely similar facial expressions no remember what they are at- no longer even a replace contained in the fricking % of the tail or how that is held. satisfied? gently wagging tail and emotionless face watching you. needs a puppy? Nudges you, gently wagging tail and emotionless face. Being aggressive and in-your-face to individual it would not like? Stands watching you with, you guessed it! Then the dogs snaps because you probably did not pass away, and also you probably did not comprehend to pass away because the dogs by no skill gave an illustration you may want to study.

Licking itself where?Paws, about the mouth and nose or another body part?
Do you wear perfume?
If the dogs just licking it's nose and around it's mouth and you wear heavy perfume then maybe it just likes the way you smell.

Dogs don't normally lick like that just because they are nervous. I have never heard of that before. It may just be a quirk of the individual dog. I have no idea what it could be for sure.

The dog may not feel comfortable around unfamiliar people.
