That American Eskimo dogs were bred to watch children, and it truly shows in my dog today, he loves to watch the kids. Also that they were the first dog used in circuses, and I can truly say, he can stand on his two legs for about ten minutes when begging!

Catahoulas are the second oldest domestic North American breed.

Australian Shepherd Dogs have nothing to do with Australia; they were developed in California.

The German Shepherd Dog standard states that the females be 22-24 inches; males 24-26 inches; max weight around 85 pounds.

That's sad; it used to be 12 years but breeders/judges have been ignoring the breed standard and they have become larger and larger over time. That is also the major factor in the increased instances of hip problems.

My Akita seems to have more unusual vocalizations then other breeds of dogs. He makes WoooWooo noises like a Wokie and other Cubalka like sounds, and he makes low grumbling noises a lot too. I have had to assure people who met him for the first time he IS NOT GROWLING at them, and the grumbling is just his breed. This sound makes some people nervous as he is very large and intimidating looking. I get asked a lot if he has wolf in him. I wish more people knew Akita's make these sounds and that he is not upset at all. He will grumble when he wants my attention or when he is happy with a treat, or to be part of a conversation. His growling is a different sound all together, believe me. The only other dogs I have heard make these noises myself are Huskies and Mals, so maybe is it a Spitz thing.

well i'm not sure what my puppy is, i know he has some chihuahua in him, but he is frikin cute! he is a small dog, and he is the friendliest dog around..he is 15lbs of jumping bean fun..he is so well behaved, rarely barks except when he is playing..i know this isn't an unusual fact but so many people look down on small breeds saying they are timid or they are ankle bitters and i don't think that is true..its because too many people with small dogs coddle them too much so then the worst part about that breed comes out..i love all dogs and believe any dog, no matter what the breed or the hype about, can be made into a well mannered dog with no problems..

i does no longer decrease your self to AKC wellness-examined domestic dogs. merely as a results of fact they have a wellness certificates at 8 weeks previous does not recommend they gained't have problems look later. in my opinion, i do no longer think of there is anybody breed it extremely is nice for a given subject. It has no longer just to do with the dwelling subject, yet in addition the character of the owner. perfect element you're able to do whilst you're set on a purebred canine is analyze many diverse breeds and then circulate circulate to a pair and notice what clicks with you. I besides the incontrovertible fact that pretty recommend rescue canine or look after canine. There are each and every thing from mutts (perfect canine i've got ever had have been Mutts, swear to God) to purebreds, even at shelters. There additionally are a great form of breed-specific rescue companies. some canine even at rescues will contain papers. And as a PP poster mentioned - retired greyhounds ARE very laid back. My around the corner neigh has had 2 of them and the two certainly one of them lived to be over 13 years previous.

I have Chinese Cresteds

Chinese Cresteds come in both a hairless and powderpuff (full coat of hair) version. Both types are found in the same litter.

A "Hairless" Crested can vary in amount of body hair.. from a sparse mowhawk, to a fine veil of a single coat of hair over most of the body. A "Puff" has a full double coat.

Gyspy Rose Lee, a famous burlesque dancer owned and bred Chinese Cresteds. She is famous for helping preserve the breed. She became smitten with them when her sister found an unusual looking hairless dog in a shelter and bought it for her as a gift.

The hairless gene is lethal dominant. All hairless Cresteds have a gene for Hairless and Puff.. a hairless can produce both types of pups, regardless of if its bred to another hairless or a puff. A puff only has the gene for puffs. It can only produce hairless pups, if bred to a hairless. If you breed 2 puffs, you will get nothing but puff puppies. Any embryo that gets 2 hairless genes does not develop and is reabsorbed into the mother's body.

I have four. A German Shepherd, an Irish Setter, a Pug and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
GSD- The average lifespan is now believed to be about 9 years. Mine is 11 years old.
Irish- In AKC ranking they are #68 making them less common that a Brussels Griffon.
Pug- That they commonly have hip dysplasia.
Cavalier- They are ranked higher than a Basset. Yet many "breeders" will try to convince you how rare they still are.
What I mean by "rank" is how many are registered with AKC yearly.

Poodles originated in Germany with the Standard Poodle...Minis and Toys were bred down from the Standard. It was just the French that made them so popular..they were the national dog of France. The name Poodle came from the German word Pudel...which means to splash in water.

Standards were used as water retreivers and that crazy hair cutu see in the show ring actually served a purpose. The poms on the ankels and hips were to protect the joints, and the big area of hair left over the chest was to protect the vital organs and to protect them from the cold.

They can be shown corded, they do shed...minimally. Require lots of grooming. Very smart. Standards rank #2 in intelligence.

My boy - German Short hair Pointer - his deal - obsessive compulsive disorder. He was bred to hunt - that's what he does. We don't hunt him. But if we did, he would be the best bird dog that ever lived. Really. Because we don't, he has a quirk that we find endearing, but another may not so much. We have to augment this need with activity to keep him balanced, exercised, and tired. He has a job. Know your breed before you buy/adopt.

My breed is chihuahuas. It is not an unusual fact, but so many people refer to them as nasty little ankle biters. Well, mine are not like that at all. Some people think it is cool to make a tiny chihuahua mean. Those are the ones that give the breed a bad name. My chihuahuas love people. Chihuahuas have as much a bad rep as pitbulls. I wish people that hare chihuahuas could meet mine.
