my lab blizzard is a sweet dog loves to play very affectionate but he jumps and hes not small he is prpbably 75 to100 lbs so he knocks us down then when you get him to sit and relax if you stop petting him he'll hit you with his paw! i love him but even yelling at him or tapping him on the nose and telling him no doesnt stop him he just will jump on your lap and lick you to death my mom have a bad back so when we're not home he either has to stay out side or go in his cage till we do and she hates doing that to him because the others are alowed to be out because the dont jump on her how can i get him to stop doing that so he can join his brothers and sisters

He doesn't respect you or anyone else. He needs to learn it is never okay to jump on a human. When he jumps on you, grab him by the scruff of the neck (firmly, but without hurting him) and force him down on the the ground so that he is laying on his side or back. Position yourself over him and hold him there until he calms down. Do this every single time he jumps on you or anyone else. If you are going to have visitors, put a leash on him and tug on the leash if he gets too excited (before he jumps). Don't give him affection when he is overly excited, don't let him try to nudge himself onto you or climb on you. He needs to sit calmly next to you if he wants to be petted.

Do not tolerate it! Keep a crisp rolled up newspaper with you at all times, and when she even thinks about it, give her a loud BAP! on the nose and say firmly, "OFF!" (don't yell, but be very stern). When she stays down, remember to praise her, do not give her the time of day if she jumps up. If the newspaper does not work, best get a shock collar and break her of this bad habit as soon as possible. She must not be allowed to believe that this is acceptable behavior, even though she is the nicest of dogs she could seriously injure a small person (a child or an elderly person) or you if she catches you off balance.

How old is your Lab? if he still a pup meaning under 3 years then it's normal until you teach him not too. Just cause hes a lab doesn't mean hes easy. My uplander who is bred to be a hunting dog they are more hyper. My english lab she lays around like a big puddle always has even when a pup.
Put him on a short leash while he is out of his crate. When you catch him jumping (in the act) you react with a tug on the leach and a firm no make him sit after every correction. Until his behavior is acceptable without the leash on. It will take sometime to break him of it. But it can be done

dog's dont really think what size they are, but jumping all over you could be a sign that the dog is showing he thinks he owns the humans. if you are standing up and he jumps - bring up one of your legs so that your lab's chest will hit your knee. It takes time for this method. Another thing to ask is how much exercise is your lab getting? remember playing is not considered exercising. Walk/run with him for a good 45 minutes minimum. Dogs with problem behaviors usually stem from lack of exercise and stimulation. Btw, you can train your dog to stay. Use a mat inside the home like a small rug. Have him stay for 1 minute and reward him and slowly increase the time as he meets his goals. He will get use to this and sit at the mat/rug instead of your lap

When your dog jumps up or puts its feet on you, take his paws in your hands and apply some pressure with your thumbs. When he struggles to get away, hold on for a few seconds and then release him. If he jumps up again, repeat the process. It won't take long for him to learn what happens when he jumps on you. Make sure everyone does that when he jumps on them.
Also find an obedience class and enroll him. Both you and he will enjoy the bonding experience.
To JeN: We need to meet and I'll bring the rolled up newspaper to use on you and see how you like it. You can train/teach a dog without smacking it as a correction. All mine respond to my voice going deeper as a correction. No need to even touch them.

Try putting a fluffy blanket or bed on the floor next to you and maybe throw part of the blanket over your Lab. We did that when camping when its a little colder. Our Lab loves to be covered up in the tent - but never at home!

I don't know about sitting or most of you question but when I first get home and my dogs try jumping on me, I keep turning my back to them until they stop, which they do seem to do quicker than when I am facing them. this might help you a little, I can't wait to see the answers you get because I have a 65lb lap dog. also, this works when my brother's basset hound keeps yapping at me continuously, I turn my back to her and she stops.

My girl is very similarly crazy! If you have someone around who is strong enough, something that works for us is my husband will hold her like a baby, upside down, and she instantly calms down.
