I found out my dog has tapeworms today. I have the pill to give her, but doesn't it make sense to put Frontline on and kill the fleas before I give it to her, to make sure she doesn't re-infect herself? I also just gave her a bath this afternoon, so, I was thinking I'd wait for two days to put the Frontline on and then give that another day to work before I give her the pill.
Is this Ok?

It takes 3 weeks from the ingestion of a infected flea to see tapeworms, the tape worm meds are usually repeated in 3 weeks because there is bound to be a flea missed somewhere in the house, yard etc. and dogs almost always reinfect themselves during that time.

Do the worm pill now, repeat in 3 weeks
The frontline should be applied 48 hours after the last bath, the dogs body oil spreads it out.

Yes you need to wait two days before applying the Frontline. Make sure it gets on her skin, not her fur.

Give her the tablet now, you need to sort this worm problem out! The tablet (IF it's from a vet, don't use anything from a pet store) should keep her protected against worms for around 3 months, so you don't have to worry about her getting reinfested from the fleas.

So - give tablet now, Frontline in two days. On the skin.

Next time you pick up a worm tablet, get the vet to go through their flea and worming regimes with you - you should really be directing your medical questions at them, not Yahoo Answers.

You don't have to wait to give her her dewormer.

As for Frontline wait at least 24 hours, 48 is better to apply after giving a bath.

i do not use topical flee treatment EVER. I check my boys every day. If you live near deer you could get a lyme vacc. but i dont choose to do that either.

I seriously DO NOT reccomend ANY topical flea treatment for your dog. They can cause death!
