YA is not your personal classified section so this is not the place to advertise or search for a breeding mate. Furthermore, if you do not know how or where to advertise your dog for stud, you should leave breeding to those that have better resources than YA.

AKC papers don't mean sh!t if your dog doesn't have Pedigree Papers as well.

If he is at least 2 years old.
If he has won championships in competition.
If he has his conformation title.
If he has a health certificate.
If he has his X rays.
If he has had all the vaccinations.
If he has had his sperm test.
Etc.

Then you may be able to breed him. Maybe.

You also need the female to have accomplished her competitions or at least started getting points. They both should come from solid blood lines (bought from a competent breeder).

If you are breeding you pet you should be aware that it is a different NO NO. If you have a dog you bought from somewhere other than a competent breeder you have a pet quality dog. These dogs are so predominately faced with many faults & predispositions for specific ailments.

I have a pet quality German Shepherd & at the age of 2 she is already getting arthritis pretty bad. Poor quality parents & the owners ignorance has caused her to have a lifetime of pain. She was a rescue. She is a beautiful dog but a very poor example of the breed.

Not understanding the genetics & how they work is a large part of the reason why pets should not be bred. If you did have a quality dog (paid a couple of thousand dollars) you wouldn't have to advertise for a mate. There would be callers knocking your door down to have the opportunity to breed the best ***** to him.

Please, reconsider or at least talk to a competent breeder to see how you guy measures up.

Your dog must be at least 2 years old, registered with the AKC, and have finished his AKC championship in the conformation ring, then received all the genetic testing and health clearances that are available for the breed. (OFA, EYES, HIPS, PATELLAS, ETC). Any responsible breeder will require that before considering using him as stud. The show ring is the proving ground for breeding quality, so a dog that does not achieve it's championship is not of a quality to be bred. After he is finished, you will be approached by breeders who have admired him in the ring, studied his pedigree and determined that the mating of your dog with their female will produce puppies that constitute a viable contribution to the breed. You will never need to advertise or seek anyone out.

Perhaps before wondering about where to advertise him you should ask yourself- do I know what I'm getting into here?- is my dog appropriate for this? Has he had his proper testing? What am i looking for in a female to breed to him?

It's not as simple as throwing together 2 dogs of the same breed- there's a lot more to it than that.

So you find someone with a female who wants to breed but hasn't done it before either- what do you 2 do when the female gets aggressive towards your male, before or during the mating? How do you handle dogs of that size, stuck together, with the female screaming and trying to turn around and snap at him? not a sure bet, but not uncommon, either. Did you even know that?

If you are asking here than your dog is probably not a champion in anything. just being AKC does not mean they should breed. get him into the ring and see how he stacks up next to others and if he should be bred. Breeding is to better the breed and to eliminate genetic disease. Do not breed just for fun! If you want to have a litter go to the shelter and volunteer to foster a pregnant dog.

nowhere. an akc registery means nothing. enter ur dog in some dog shows make him a champion and make him matter in the dog world. but for now ur damn akc registery doesnt mean crap to anyone. would a champion female's owner honestly think about breeding to a nonchampion male. no. so either get ur dog fixed. or make ur dog a champion. make him prove himself

Show him in confirmation. If he's a quality dog, you will have inquiries about him. If he's not and never wins, he shouldn't be being bred in the first place.
