Dogs - October 2007

I love Yorkies! Plz tell me everything you know about the breed and what it is like living with one. I am aware that they use to hunt rats, but is it ok if a Yorkie will live with a hamster and rabbit? The hamster is in the utility room on a surface too high for a Yorkie to reach or jump at and the rabbit lives outside with one of them cages where the run is attached to the bottom of the cage. Also, how much are vet bills, yearly vaccinations, average price per week if you have a Yorkie?

That Husky Lover and Dog Owner are the same person? They give the same basic answers, they are both nasty, and they give each other best answer. That seems wrong to me. Do you think they are the ones cloning people?

after reading the dog wisperer and watching dog borstal,i have definatly come to the conclusion that my staff reckons he is leader of the pack,any suggestions on how to fix this problem i was told to .1,ignore him for 20 mins when i enter the room. 2,pretend to eat his food before him. 3,only give him attention when i have called him and told him to sit. 4,do not give him attention when he demands it!he does not really listen to me and have to say is very bossy.due to the fact he is not keen on other dogs im wary of a training class. any suggestions? thanks

I just adopted him on Monday. He is gray and white. His name is Wolf, (although I may change it), He's not hurt or sick. He seem's happy when he makes this sound. I don't really know how to explain it. I was raised around German Shepherd Dogs my whole life, but I never heard a dog make a sound like this. It's almost like he is trying to talk to me. Is this normal?

All 3 are new accounts. None of these are the real DP. How is Yahoo allowing this to happen? This could be happening to anyone. And Yahoo doesn't do anything about it? I would hate for this to be happening to me. This is actually illegal. Pretending to be someone else.
I think Yahoo should change the way they do things so that this isn't able to happen. I think also people doing this should be charged with stalking, and harassment.
Yahoo can tell who is doing this by the ISP number. I believe they should get off their butts and have these people removed and blocked permanently.

do they act really hyper and crazy like puppies all the time. do you have a lot of problems with them not being neutered. Im thinking about getting my 4 month old pup when hes 6 months but im worried about the side effects like his personality will change or somethin. also , as a guy i just think that would suck. anyone out there feel me?

He looks ( and acts ) like a poodle to me. He has very bad tear stains. I found him wandering around and was very matted (i obviously didnt do a good job shaving himlol). I was supposed to get him neutered 2 weeks ago but my vet had an accident so i have not been able to get his opinion.

In my opinion he looks like a mini poodle, he is about 11 inches tall and weighs 9 or10 pounds.

I usually use Frontline Plus on my 65-lb lab, but my local store is out of stock on this, so I used Hartz 3-in-1 this time. As per the instructions, I applied a straight line from the shoulder blade area down to the beginning of her tail. I used the whole tube. It has been just over two days, and her back still has the oily streak. Do you think the medication has already evenly distributed, and I can wipe her down?

I've been reading through my answers and I was noticing that a specific person kept adding a site to their answer! I was thinking .. WOW! This must be some site to be the source of allof these answers! So, I checked it out .. and they sell designer dog clothes and toys! Specifically, I meant to ask how long can it stay in its crate without going to the bathroom at night. I wake up at around 6 am and I put her to sleep at like 9. Should I take her out to the bathroom in the middle of the night or should I put her to sleep later?

he is not necessarily mine. he's my boyfriend's and his brother's... but since they still live with their mother, jay lives outdoors. i know how to take care of dogs, trust me, i work with dogs and i lived with dogs all my live. i'm just looking for other's opinion..
Jay always seeems to look skinny.. My boyfriend free feeds him, so I suggested we start putting him on a breakfast and dinner only schedule and removing the untouched after an hour or two.
i'm thinking he has worms.. only becase he just seems to always look skinny. which if he does, i will definately get him on dewormers.. but i'm wondering if some pit owners.. that don't use their pit for aggresive show or what not.. just have the pit for love... if it may just be the built of him.

My next-door neighbor has me dog sit their maltese-poodle mix, who turns a year old this week. I've taken him for walks and had perfect STRANGERS come up to me and yell at me because he hasn't been GROOMED in months! I've offered to pay for the grooming myself, tried to explain that the dog will be happier, gotten a dog expert to come and talk to them, etc.--all to no avail.

This is it! They are away in LA at a wedding. I am taking the dog to a groomer tomorrow morning and having him done. Nothing drastic--just thin the hair, trim out the toes and the butt, cut the nails and get the hair out of his eyes.

Do you think they'll notice? Do you think they'll send me to jail? How will I explain this?

Hi i have a pregnant dog she will be 62 days pregnant tomorrow, her temperature is 97.9 and is very tired, i took her on a walk today to help her out with delivery but when i came homr from school today she started whining for like 2 mins but stopped so im confused whether or not she is in labor or not? any idea if she is? again, her temp is 97.9, and please no rude comment no one told you to look on here in the first place. We will be getting her spayed after her pups are gone.

payed before me and left. when i got outside she was litterelly waiting in her car and rolled the window down so i could see her dog. now i know she was expecting a positive comment and i gave her one but this dog was soooooooooooo ugly. i told her she was a beauty.
would you do the same thing and be nice even though it was ugly?? i've never had someone just waiting on me so i could see their dog. lol. not outside a grocery store anyway! ha ha.

We got a puppy at I think 8 weeks old. She has grown well, had very vet visits, shots, etc. Everything is well with her...she's a healthy chow/labrador/something else. She's now about 11 months old. But a few of her teeth look like they have not come in all the way, and she still bites on a lot of things and has what many people describe as "the maddies". Ugh. The vet said the teeth would be in around 9 to 10 months. She's almost a year old. What gives with the lateness of the teeth coming in all the way? They look maybe halfway or a little more, and it just doesn't look like they are in as much as they should be, when compared to nearby teeth.

I have a boxer/pitt bull mix and for some reason eveytime our Chihuahua has pup and weans them she starts nursing them, she gets milk but never has been pregnant herself. Anyway this time her breasts are swollen and purple and she seems pretty sick, she won't eat and she is panting a lot, whats wrong??

Ok I came home tonight and found that my dog ate a whole package of hershey's kisses with the metal wrappers. There were about fifty in the package. I'm really worried about him since he ate all the metal along with the chocolate. Should I take him to the vet? My dog is a very large sheltie btw.

We just got an 8 week old puppy yesterday and he is a pomapoo/cockapoo mix he weighs about 2.4 lbs. Whenever we leave we put him either in the bathroom or another room but he cries and screams very very VERY loudly, loud enough that we can hear him outside the door to the apartment so i know others around us can hear him. Any suggestions as to what we could do to help sooth him?? We are going to start putting him in a crate when we leave during the day.

we just gave him k9 advantix earlier today b/c he had bad fleas and he has been doing totally fine until a few minutes ago he threw up and had a little bit of watery diahrrea...we just got him yesterday and he has had his first puppy shots and hes 8 weeks old. my uncle thinks he has a mental disorder but I dont think he does...
He always goes inside and my uncle has tried puting his snout in the pee and poop(were he smells it ) and putting him outside and sternly telling him no. Hes not a puppy hes about 4 yrs hes a westie.
He hates it outside and when we do put him outside(we have a fenced in backyard) he barks and barks to come in and he poops on the deck outside... I dont know what esle to do...?

When my husband first brought our puppy home about two weeks ago, she seemed to be paper trained, she would go right on the puppy pads we had for her, and outside. Since then it's like she forgot where she was supposed to pee, she's peed in my husband's truck (only minutes after being taken out and going pee), on the rug, on the bed (again, after being taken out and peeing) Today, she peed a little on the floor, I took her out to see if she needed to finish her business, she peed outside. Not more then 10 minutes later she was peeing on the rug again. I don't get it, why the digression? I know you should crate train the dog, but my husband is also afraid that when we have to go away on a long trip in the car and she needs to be in the crate that she will be upset with us the whole time thinking we are punishing her. Help!?
