A "dry" or chiseled look to the face with prominent bone structure, hips very distinct, not in "full flesh" like a young well cared for dog would be, thin skin, a greying muzzel and eyebrow are telltale signs of age as well as moles on the face, eyelids and nose and on the back, a foggy looking eye, seems to have a film over it; is a cataract, this too comes with age, worn down teeth rounded from age and use, large callouses on the elbows and horney pads on the feet and a thinning coat, some or all of these hallmarks may be present to help you determine the dogs age.

Greying on the face doesn't always mean the dog is old. Some breeds grey early on. Some breeds will start to grey as early as 3 years. You can go to the vet and the vet can give a good guess by looking at the teeth.

Look for white muzzles, cataracts, and the condition of the teeth. All those are good indicators of older dogs.

i think of you will get the excellent answer from a knowledgeable vet. i've got heard you are able to tell from the tooth too, yet i don't be attentive to what you will seek for. Take him to a vet! He would desire to probable flow in any case.
