I usually use Frontline Plus on my 65-lb lab, but my local store is out of stock on this, so I used Hartz 3-in-1 this time. As per the instructions, I applied a straight line from the shoulder blade area down to the beginning of her tail. I used the whole tube. It has been just over two days, and her back still has the oily streak. Do you think the medication has already evenly distributed, and I can wipe her down?

Frontline Plus was recommended by my vet when my dog was a puppy, so I used it consistently. My first package of it was from my vet. Then I moved away,so I bought Frontline Plus from Petco thereafter. I had only bought Hartz from the local supermarket since Petco was sold out of Frontline Plus in the dosage needed for my Lab.

Same thing happened with my dog. In my opinion you can wipe her down, because Hartz is such a cheap brand that the medication probably stopped working. I know this from experience, that stuff is pointless. You can maybe wash her with Flea Shampoo to get the oilyness out and to make sure that fleas are gone. =)

I'd wipe it off, because Hartz is bad stuff. Dangerous, and not effective. If your store is out of stock on Frontline, get some from somewhere else, like a vets. Don't turn to Hartz!!

Hartz and Sergeants should be banned from stores. They are very toxic to your animals and for the most part they do NOT work. Your putting your animals in serious danger using that crap.

Is Frontline Plus over the counter stuff?

Since there have been numerous recalls on topical flea prevention, I would just bathe it off. Only buy the products that are known to be sold by vets. Good luck!

I use revolution, I love it and it does not leave my dog oily looking. Plus it works for numerous things. It does cost about 12 bucks per application but it is worth it and it actually last 1 month

I would give her a REALLY good bath or two, then wait a week or so and put Frontline on instead. That stuff really doesn't work, and I have seen it make cats and small dogs VERY sick!

I would suggest getting flea meds from your vet. I wouldn't use Hartz if my life depended on it.
