He looks ( and acts ) like a poodle to me. He has very bad tear stains. I found him wandering around and was very matted (i obviously didnt do a good job shaving himlol). I was supposed to get him neutered 2 weeks ago but my vet had an accident so i have not been able to get his opinion.
In my opinion he looks like a mini poodle, he is about 11 inches tall and weighs 9 or10 pounds.

Yep...he's a poodle. I can't tell if he's a minature or a toy....but there is a standard on the size. THe AKC standard says this about the two size differences:
The Miniature Poodle is 15 inches or under at the highest point of the shoulders, with a minimum height in excess of 10 inches. Any Poodle which is over 15 inches or is 10 inches or less at the highest point of the shoulders shall be disqualified from competition as a Miniature Poodle.
The Toy Poodle is 10 inches or under at the highest point of the shoulders. Any Poodle which is more than 10 inches at the highest point of the shoulders shall be disqualified from competition as a Toy Poodle

He looks like a poodle, probably an oversized toy. The ears are high set but yoiu do see that in allot of toys. Once the topknot is grown out and the ear fringes become longer, the set of the ears will not seem quite so high.
I have three toy poodles. My oldest is an oversized toy that grew to 12 1/2" tall and 9 1/2 pounds which basically makes him a mini. My other 2 are closer to the toy standard height.
This is their website:

The tear staining can be helped with daily washing of the area beneath the eyes as well as shaving the face weekly.

Either pure poodle or possibly schnauzer with poodle. The fist close up looks totally poodle but when I saw his ear set in the 2nd pic, I wondered if he may have a little schnauzer in there as well. Normally poodles have lower set ears except in many toy poodles, they can have high set ears.
The lighter coloring around the muzzle is common in schnauzers and that dark stripe down his back is typical of a schnauzer puppy marking. Schnauzers are born brown with a dark dorsal stripe. As they grow up they gradually turn to silver.
I do not know if silver poodles are born with a stripe but I do know that silver poodles are born black. Just not sure if the back is the last thing to turn silver but I really don't think they have that back stripe thing going on so that is why my guess is schnoodle for your new puppy dog.
Are you able to tell the age of the dog from his teeth? If you don't know how, ask the vet what he thinks, if there is time to let us know, please post the answer. The younger he is, the more likely I will be thinking he does have schnauzer as well as poodle and you can expect that back stripe to gradually fade away.

I've owned poodles all my life. They come in 4 categories. Tea Cup, Toy, Miniature and Standard. Your little guy definately looks like a Toy Poodle that didn't have his tail bobbed as a pup. Good luck with him. What a find!

He looks like a toy poodle to me.
A little eye envy will help with those stains. The groom job looks good enough.. the mats are gone.. he can start over with a new coat!

I'm going to say that this guy is a poodle. It's very possible that he could be a poodle mix.
