hon...i think you're more worried about your pride than his.
he won't know the difference. and it DOES help w/aggression, marking, etc.
not to mention help STOP unwanted litters of pups, and prevent cancer of the testicles.

get him neutered!

It's best for your dog to have him neutered. He will be calmer, less prone to territorial behavior and roaming, and he will be unable to add to the pet overpopulation problem by helping produce accidental litters :). He'll still be a fun, active, energetic Pit Bull pal....neutering does not make a dog fat and lazy. He'll just be a bit easier to get along with.

Dogs don't quite have the same attachment to their "equipment" that some male humans seem to have. I've been around dogs my whole life and worked in an animal hospital for 2 years and I've yet to see a male dog even NOTICE that they're gone :).

If it really matters to you that greatly, there *are* synthetic implants called Neuticles you can have put in after he's neutered. I think it's a bit unnecessary and silly myself, but if it helps convince more MEN to neuter their dogs, it's worth it. Heck, they come in all sizes, you could even buy him a bigger pair ;) www.neuticles.com

Pit bulls, I think, are always hyper because they are just large dogs to begin with. I don't think it has anything to do with being neutered. We have two large dogs, one of them a pit bull. People don't realize the commitment when they get any big dog. They just need a LOT of excercise, every single day. That's why so many of them end up in shelters with problems like "destructive indoors," "doesn't get along with other dogs," etc. etc. etc. Think about it - if you were pent up in one place all day you'd be hyper too!!!!! Maybe try taking him out on a deserted road and let him run behind you on a bike - that is a great bonding time.

The vet removes the dog's balls, not yours, so what's the big deal? And trust me, dogs don't miss their balls at all. They aren't even aware that they have them to begin with.
No, it won't change his personality or result in any undesirable side affects if you neuter him. I have had many dogs over the years, both puppies and older dogs that I have had spayed or neutered, and not one dog changed for the worse, but many changed for the better, like no more marking territory, no wandering, no more hormone driven aggression, etc.
Just get your dog neutered. There is no reason not to.

I have a male who is unaltered. He is about 2 years old now and he's still the same as he was before. Yeah he is kind of hyper but he is a good dog. He has calmed down quite a bit in the last year though. I don't know if that helped or not.

I'm owner of my pitbull dog at 8months old I don't take him to get neutered. He is sitll aggressive, still chew anything, still toward new people's faces, still bark sometime, and something to do he still therefore if you get him to neuter he will calm down as not like my dog is still aggressive.

pits are naturally very physically active dogs/
neutering your dog is the healthiest thing you can do for him.
won't change his basic personality just make him less aggressive around other neutered males.

Have him neutered at 6 months. It will be healthier for him & easier for you.
His personality will NOT change.
And don't put "YOUR" feelings on the subject into the picture. Your dog will be MUCH happier after he is neutered.

Here's something to consider. This breed has the reputation for causing the most dog attacks. The vast majority of the dogs that attacked were intact males.
