I just got a puppy and he has ticks, due to the fact he was left outside. I have found a few ticks on him but one in particular has almost completely buried itself in his skin. How do i get it out?

I am considering adding a pomeranian puppy and a silky terrier puppy to my family of one(me).

Are these breeds going to be able to get along
and what is the best way to introduce them to one another so that they can be, for lack of a better word, "friends"

Someone told me today that dogs have a higher tolerance for pain than us humans do. Do you think that is the case? (I personally am not sure how that is even measureable - maybe they were just pulling my leg)

I know this is gross, which is why I've put off asking it. Please only answer if you really know. My male dog lives outside in the back yard. I walk him with me three times a week around the neighborhood for about 20 minutes. Even though we walk in the early evening and he gets fed in the mornings, for some reason, he has to poop at least once during his walks. I know he goes in the yard, so I don't see why this is necessary. I understand male dogs peeing on everything, but for gosh sakes! This is highly embarrassing, and I try to keep him out of public view as much as possible. Does anybody know why he does this? (Please no smartalecky answers - I'm plenty embarrassed enough as it is.) Thanks.

This year I am graduating, going to Natchitoches Northwestern which is, like, two hours from where I live. I've got a six year old Rottweiler x black Lab who lives in our fenced off back yard. Unfortunately, you can't bring any sort of pet to stay with you in the dorm [you've gotta stay on campus for the first year or something]. My parent's are going to take care of her ofcourse, but is it selfish of me to leave her there?
Or would it be better for me to give her to somebody who's not so busy and would be around more often?
I'm really against the latter, but it'll be heart breaking to see her become a different dog with every visit home and eventually end up bored out of her mind.
I'm probably overthinking how horrible it's going to be for her though. But, you know, she's my big hyper fool and I'm going to miss her loads.

my miniture male doxie is so submissive, he lets our other dog chew on his ears, bite him, make him cry....and all he does is roll on his back. he does this with people too and also other dogs. i just dont want him getting hurt. when he was a baby his right testicle never dropped so we had to have him neutered right away (the dr said someone about it could get cancerous...i dunno) could this be a reason hes so submissive? no testosterone? is there any way to make him not such a scardy cat?

okay so he is a dog - well will be when I get hom. I'm looking for a dog that would be okay inside of an apartment - I work nine hours but get off at 6pm which leaves a lot of evening to play. Can't be over 20-25 lbs. I want something of medium build perhaps. no toy anything! A dog big enough to run beside me while I inline skate in teh evenings.

any ideas?

Look at this satellite image of the Calif fires. The smoke from it is much whiter than the sea.which is obviouskly blocking and reradiating solar heat from striking the earth. Now the 100 trillion dollar question.

Could much of our global warming be coming from worldwide fire suppression for the past 100 years???? Would more fires SLOW global warming? Should we let wildfires burn naturally and without suppression?

She tried to pull him off the bed, he was just protecting "HIS" ground. Had him for 12 years since he was a puppy, only had her for 3 months. She is now afraid of him but has not told me to get rid of him yet! This is only the second bite he has ever made against any human. He bit me 6 years ago for trying to yank him out of a car he was not supposed to be in. I don't want her afraid forever but I would hate to get rid of the dog for a once only kind of occurence. Any one have any INTELLEGIENT suggestions?
