Actually you will want a submissive type of dog and the best are beagles and Labs. It is not so much about the dog though as it is about the upbringing of the dog and introducing the two dogs. Being more submissive is key and you will want to make sure to introduce them outside of the house and off your property. Then slowly make it towards bringing the new pup inside.
I have two Labs and this worked perfectly for us. Now I can't separate them! LOL

I love both of our Cocker Spaniels. Both are rescued from shelters. Check out some local shelters, or Petfinder.org and meet the dog before you adopt. You may be able to set up a meet with your dog and the new dog before adoption to see if theyre compatible (check first). There are many advantages that come with adoption. You may get lucky and not have to housebreak. You get the satisfaction of knowing you helped a dog who may very well have been in line to be put to sleep. Adopted dogs at least in my case seem to appreciate being loved more. Both of ours were obviously beaten before. good luck!

That depends on you, how active you are and how much time you have to spend with your dog, and if you are looking for a good companion for the dog you already have.
A terrier or a boxer type breeds need allot of exercises.
Maybe trying getting a dog similar in breeds with the one you already have?

I personally love mutts. The best dogs are shelter dogs. They take a while to get used to you, but after that they will always be with you no matter what.

I would recomend a toy poodle. As I'm sure you know these cute little guys don't shed.....at all!! I love my little poodle. Don't get a pomeranian though. My sister has 2, I love them to bits, but they don't know how to stop barking!

My second dog was a soft coated bassett hound, Barney, the light of my life for 15yrs. He ruined me for any other dog, cause he was a cup of pure love.

I guess you'd want to get a small dog. I know miniature schnauzers have great temperaments, but mini Australian shepherds are great too.

if you want a family dog, a Golden Retriever is the BEST. They're such sweet dogs... if you want another little dog, Yorkie by far.
