my dogs get along with my old cat but the dogs are more possessive of me and get a little snarly when the cat wants to snuggle in bed at night time, they chase her away and then she sneaks very quietly and sleeps on my head when they are not aware of her i think because she is fast with those dukes of hers and can make a quick escape that the dogs just don't want her around a whole lot. other times they will sleep a few feet apart.

My cat gets along very well with my two dogs. The whole cat/dog rivalry comes from cartoons.

dogs and cats can get along fine, but alot of times if a dog has never been around a cat they have and instinct to chase it because dogs are hunters, they come from wolves, so they tend to go after smaller animals, like cats squirrels raccoons etc....

Not all of them i have 3 house cats and 12 huskies and one german shepherd and they were raised together. If you don't raise them together there is a chance they might not get along though. We also have wild cats (i live on a 83 acre farm and have baby kittens here and my dogs just love them.i am guessing there is prob around 20 wild cats and kittens i am trying my best to catch them all and get them spayed/neutered :)

The trick is not to force the love.
One animal will be boss and the other will listen to the boss.
When a cat hisses or a dog growls at eachother do not tell them to stop because they are solving a problem.

nicely if that's merely a quick-term concern i'd advise which you merely separate the animals. keep the cat in one room and the canine in the different. that's your cats abode, so i'm specific that he/she isn't familiar with having it invaded via a clean furry critter. on the different hand, if that's a protracted term concern i'd advise which you maintain them separated for the day/evening and then while morning comes flow on your interior of reach veterinary well being facility and ask them what you will desire to do. i've got published a link for you. that's from the Humane Society of the U. S. website. they provide ideas for introducing new pets into the homestead. that's a very long technique, yet while performed properly and patiently it might desire to actual do wonders on your concern. stable success!
