I thought she was thirsty because of hot summer but it seems like she drinks lots of water. Also after she sleeps and wakes up in the morning, her nose is all dried up and find a little "rust" around her nose... what can this be? is she just thirsty or does she have diabetes?

I already asked this, but i want to see other people's opinion.

He looks ( and acts ) like a mini or a toy poodle to me. He has very bad tear stains.

I found him wandering around and was very matted (i obviously didnt do a good job shaving himlol).

He weighs around 9 pounds, and is about 11 inches tall.

I was supposed to get him neutered 2 weeks ago but my vet had an accident so i have not been able to get his opinion.

Here are some pics of how terrible his fur was (his whole body was like a sheep lol):

Look how thick it was:

my mom has a black lab (8 and half months old) and he is really destructive..... Does any one know why or how to get them to calm down? he has the whole run of the yard (chain link fenced in) and they bring him in the house everyday for periods of time..... and most of the time, he sleeps in the house at night....but he digs sooo many holes, has chewed up all their plants, tore up their wicker furniture on the porch....

What causes this kind of behavior in dogs.... and how can it be corrected or can it be?? lol

I have a guinea pig but I really want a dog. I grew up with a dog and hate being without one. The apartment I'm renting doesnt allow dogs and believe me I've tried to find a way around it but there are none. I don't have the option of moving for a couple of years but I don't know if I can go that long without a dog. I have tried volunteering at the animal shelter but that makes it worse. Does anyone have any ideas about how I can stop wanting a dog so much?

I know that humans have three - blue, green, and red - and some animals have even more, allowing them to see things we can't - but I've always heard that dogs see in black and white. How many cones do they have in their eyes, if any?

Where will we get predictable, purebred dogs that can do the job they were bred to do? Where will I get my next performance/herding prospect? If all responsible purebred breeding stops right now, what will be left with in 25 yrs?

I'm curious because lots of people seem to think it's horrible that reputable breeders are breeding and carrying on the lines of their purebreds in hopes of improving their bloodlines.

I have a very lovely AKC Sheltie. She is show quality but I have chosen not to show her because I'm not into the dog show scene. I'd rather do competitive obedience and agility with her at which she excels. She is an excellent example of what a Sheltie should look like and has this exceptional temperment (a lot of Shelties are a bit shy). I know there are tons of unwanted dogs euthanized at shelters. This is terrible and it's from people not spaying/neutering because they are too lazy or don't want to pay (in which case, they shouldn't own a dog), people not realizing how much work a dog is and giving it up, and overbreeding (which some of the best breeders even do). This is the first litter I've ever had with my dogs. I already have a list of 8 people who want her puppies. I am not doing this for money. I will actually lose money. I am doing this because this is the type of dog that should be bred! I only have 2 dogs at the moment and am very responsible. QUIT LECTURING!

I have an 8 month old female maltese, and she has to go to the bathroom very frequently being that she weighs 7 lbs
While I'm not home I usually will leave a training pad in the room where she plays so that she can go while I'm gone (I'm usually gone for about 4-6 hrs everyday)
My parents say that I should have her trained to go outside only like my other dog, but I don't think she could hold it for that long
Plus when I let her outside to go to the bathroom she usually gets very muddy and full of grass and it takes longer
Is it ok to only let her be paper trained or is this not fully training her?

My boyfriend and I adopted a lab when he was 3 months old (he's now almost 1yr.old) and being the animal lover I am, I don't really understand why I haven't made some kind of connection. I don't think its normal, people are supposed to love there dogs. As embarrassing as it is I'm not even sure I would miss him if he wasnt here. I want to love him, my boyfriend loves him but I just dont its more of a tolerence. Does any one have a suggestion on how to turn this relationship around?

I just adopted a girl pitbull from the local animal shelter. She is 3-4 months of age and weighs in at 26 lbs, although she hardly looks it, she is so short and teeny weeny still. I know she's got growth packed away in that little puppy body, just curious what a rough estimate would be. I expect she won't be much more than 50 lbs full grown, because she's a girl and she can't be taller than 18 inches right now. What do you think??

I recently bought a miniature American Eskimo puppy, and the previous owner gave me an application for permanent registration. While filling it out, I realized it has a section on the parents being Purple Ribbon bred, which is gibberish to me, seeing as this is the first non-pound dog I've ever owned. In front of both the dam and sire's names is 'PR', though, does that stand for Purple Ribbon?

Thanks for your help, I'm such a newb at this. :)

I recently was watching Animal Precinct or something similar on Animal Planet and the ASPCA was given a call that there had been a puppy that was hit by a car. When they got there, there was a man trying to bandage her leg, which was the only thing that was hit. They talked with him a bit, and the man said that he was the puppy's owner couldn't pay for the vet bills anymore. The ASPCA did the right thing by taking the puppy out of his custody, but the man was heartbroken. He hesitated, but knew it was best for his puppy. The allowed him to say goodbye, and he put her in the van, he was tearing a bit and the puppy very was affectionate toward the man and licked his face goodbye. After the cage door was shut and the van door was about to close, he says, "Don't forget, I love you." And he slowly walked away and watched the van drive away. This made me cry so hard. Any thoughts on this?

Every day my Corgi eats about a cup of kibble, 2 T of peanut butter, 1/4 cup of yogurt and a couple of cubes of cheese that I put in her Kong. Everything but the kibble is of course low fat or fat free. Do you think this is suitable? She seems to be a very healthy...not overweight dog. Also, are there any fruits or veggies besides grapes and raisins that dogs can't have?
