Sorry I disagree. People who buy dogs that have been known to be forced to participate in dog fights such as pitbulls should be more closely monitored. Since pitbulls are used in dog fights they have gained a bad reputation for being people killing machines. However, the only reason that pitbulls attack more than other dogs is because they are more often abused and raised in homes where they were not properly socialized or trained. Also do you know how many attacks that result in a human fatality are really caused by a pitbull? Many people see an attack and wrongly assume that the dog was a pitbull. Also there are 25 breeds that are commonly mistaken to be pitbulls.

I don't agree that people who love pitbulls should be required to pay more for insurance or pay licensing fees. However, I do think breeders should be required to proove thier dogs are going to good homes and the dogs should be checked on after about a year or so in thier new homes to be sure that the dogs are properly cared for and trained. Then again I think this should be done with all dogs but in reality will never happen.

Why should we? ANY DOG CAN BE AGGRESSIVE AT ANYTIME! I have a pit bull, and she isn't aggressive in the least bit. Why should I have to pay a special license fee for her? She's nicer than most other dogs I've ever met. And I work at an animal shelter, so I've met A LOT of dogs. My dog loves other dogs, never met one she didn't like, she let's my 5 year old niece take food right out of her mouth while she is eatting. She knows all of her commands, and has never once even attempted to show aggression. What makes her any different then any other dog? NOTHING. Just because you don't care enough to think of the fact that there ARE people out there who love these dogs and treat them like family, doesn't mean everything you say is right. I love my dog and would do anything for her, and if certain breeds are singled out, EVERY breed should be. Because ANY dog can beomce aggressive and bite at ANY time. Stop hating, and learn to keep your mouth shut. You don't see pit bull owners going around saying how much they don't like labs, chihuahuas, or any other type of dog. Because we know that there are people out there who love them. So Just keep your mouth shut.

so who gets to decide what a "dangerous" breed is? personally, i think small dogs can be quite dangerous, seeing as people often baby them until they become aggressive and protective. their bite may not hurt as much, but can still disfigure a child.

basically, how can people regulate whats a dangerous "breed"?
breeds should not be generalized as a whole. certain dogs or OWNERS should.

to be honest, i think ANYONE who wants to own a dog should have to have proof of going to an obedince school/training class with them. they should have to be able to pass a test on basic care and upkeep of their pet.

so all in all...i can't offer u any help with supporting points...
