How many of us would be this exuberant after a debilitating accident like this one?

Who else thinks that dogs love their lives more than people and maybe even more than any other animal?

Would you have given this dog a chance?

Would you adopt a dog with this kind of 'handicap'?

Thoughts, please, as always, thanks...

When buying a dog, which sex do you perfer to get, a male or a female? Which is easier to house break? Or just a better dog to have? I know all dogs have their own personality, depending on the breed and what not, but if you had a litter or puppies in front of you, and got told to pick one, would you take a male or a female? Thank you!

My puppy has fleas very very bad and the vet said they have a pill that you give them and within 30 minutes the fleas fall off. Has anyone ever heard of this?? I want to get some opinions before I use it.

Hi All!

My friend placed her Beagle into a foster home about a couple months back due to problems with her temporary living arrangement. She is now at an extended stay hotel, but says she will have adequate housing by next month or no later than December and now wants her doggy back.

Unfortunately it appears that the foster parents for the dog will not give him back to her and she is very distraught over the trust that she placed into this family as well as the rescue organization that recommended them.

The fosters even offered to pay cash for him, but my friend refused stating that all she wants is to have her pet and is now fearful that these people will never give him back. Just today they told her that he was lost. I find this very hard to believe since the fosters had him microchipped.

I feel so badly because I was the one who initially recommended foster care for the dog. Does anyone have any advice for her OR has this now turned into a legal case?

I think we will all agree that the 'core' vaccinations are required, at least initially.

The question comes up with vaccinations as the dog ages. Do you think core vaccinations should be administered every 1 year? Or every 3 years?

"Combo shots" (5-in-1 or 7-in-1), or individual shots? Spaced out, or all at once?

Also, do you believe in giving vaccinations if your dog will likely never come in contact with the disease? (example: lyme vaccination if you live in an area that doesn't have lyme, and don't ever travel to any areas that do.)

Do you believe in titer tests being any good? I've seen arguments both ways. Some links about different opinions on titers:

You know when you meet someone, and they're just excellent with dogs, can read body language, they own dogs that are well behaved, and they just have a well of knowledge? Would you consider this person a work of art, or a born creation? What about those piss poor owners who blame their dog biting people on the dog, instead of the lack of socialization and training? Would you consider those people a work in progress, teachable and rehabilitatable? Or should they just admit they weren't cut out for dogs, and move onto the next species of animal??

Thoughts? Input?

My husband and I recently had and issue with our dog getting out of our fence. In the last two weeks we have recieved 4 citiations, and she was impounded for 10 days. We have just built a 6ft wood privacy fence, thinking that it would fix the problem. Today was the first day that we left the dog in the yard, while we were at work, within an hour she had dug a hole out. She is a large dog, but does have basic training. We live next to a school, and she loves kids. I hate to leave her inside all day, because I feel she won't get the exericse that she needs. I am just looking for the best way to keep her in the yard when she is left out their alone. Please help!!!!.

My dog ran into the other room and carried back a dead mouse. We had the exterminator here several months ago and he set poison traps which is what we assumed killed the mouse. The dog carried the mouse to us dropped it and then we picked the dog up. She didnt break the mouses skin and had it in her mouth for less than 2 minutes. Do we have reason to worry that the dog may have been poisoned? She is only 8 pounds and we want to know if we should bring her to the vet.

(ps we arent disgusting people, we rent and she got this mouse in the basement where the landlord lives)

I feel it is not right. Just because Paris Hilton has one, doesn't mean that someone with a Chihuahua has followed in her footsteps. I mean, Pink has bulldogs, but they are not classed as celebrities dogs, are they? I mean, Chihuahuas are lovely, lively little dogs which are perfect for someone with very little space in their home and can make the ideal companion. WHY DO THEY HAVE SUCH A SNAPPY YAPPY REPUTATION? I once saw a woman walking 2 chihuahuas and a man went by saying 'I see you are following in Paris Hiltons footsteps' i am fed up of it! I don't actually have Chihuahuas, but am planning to get one and I do not want to be insulted by people! In fact, that womans chihuahuas are very lovely and friendly and if that man had just went down and stroked them, he would not have said that.

I ran into a website last night, it had pictures of pitbulls and they were huge and I don't just mean muscular I mean they were BIG, Like over 100lbs and they stand as tall as a man... The site says they are pure pitbulls but I remember my vet telling me that pitbulls don't weigh over 80lbs.. Now how the hell did they create a pitbull that big? Are they really purebred or did they cross breed it with another type of dog? Did they give them growth hormone or steroids or something because they look like monsters..

the person is.....shaundawn1723..... this is what she said!

No of course not. My mom though, probably loves her dog more than my dad. But I love my dad more than my mom. Anyways, people have to treat animals right though. I would not, do not, leave my cat or dog outside at all. Unless my dog goes potty of course. I do not think my pets or any pets will die and go to Heaven either. They have no soul like humans.

i dont agree with her one bit! i think that dogs do have souls and do go to heaven! but not according to her... what do u think about what she said???????

OK, here's the situation: You have a really nice puppy that there's a good chance will make a phenomenal brood ***** or stud dog.

You have a buyer who is interested in breeding. This buyer has passed all of your tests and could potentially be a great new breeder and exhibitor in your breed. The buyer's willing to do a co-ownership (or some other agreement that you make). The buyer's also willing and eager to listen to and take your advice.

The problem is that the buyer is in an area where there are few other dogs of the breed. So... the buyer will show, but without competition won't likely ever finish. The buyer doesn't have the means or the inclination to travel hundreds of miles to get that elusive major. The buyer may be willing to travel to the national or one big show a year... but possibly not enough to ever finish the dog.

Is this a good match for your puppy?

My dog just bit my son for the second time, it happened once before about 6 months ago. The dog is old (but still in good health - he's 12 and a mixed shepherd breed) and just wants to be left alone. My son is a very active 5 year old and wants to play. He snapped at my son yesterday & got him really good on the brow bone, piercing the skin and there's bruising all around my son's eye (he didn't get the actual eye, thank the universe). I don't feel safe with my dog around my son. The dog would be heart broken if I gave him away. Should I put him down?
