How do you know when your dog wants to peepee and caca? Does the dog like whine, drag you outside or something?
Can you also make the dog poop when you want it to?

What about puppies, if they are trained, are they gonna whine when they want to pee or like bark or drag you to go out side?

we got a yellow lab/cocker mix from a shelter and she did really well up until we noticed a cyst on her side. it hurt and was going to keep growing so we had to have it surgically removed. it seems like once it started hurting she has gone into hiding (she goes in a corner by herself in the house) and is going to the bathroom in the house. it has been about 3 weeks since her surgery and these problems seem to be getting worse. we plan on taking her to the vet to make sure that there isn't anything wrong but we were wondering why this is happening.

by the way we are pretty sure that at her old home she was around other dogs and we don't have another dog here. she seems to be less withdrawn when my brother-in-law's mother's dog is at our house (we had a labor day party and she brought him with).

I have a 10 Month old Aussie Bulldog. I am away from home for 8 hours a day and she is on her own. When I am away she is eating/destroying anything she can find and reach. She also forces her way through a locked cat door into the house and will run amok inside and tear up magazines, pillows etc.
She has more dog toys than any other dog I know. I have tried ignoring her for a while when I get home, saying NO when I catch her but the problem is that she is perfectly behaved when we are at home. she gets plenty of exercise too (thowing balls etc.)
HELP. I am worried she will get stuck in the cat door and be there all day half in, half out!

He has a boil/wart/growth on the very end of his tail. It looks like a hemmoroid but its on his tail, not as butt. He is a yorkie so he has a very short tail, and all the way on the end is like a tic tac. Its a really full boil/growth that looks like it has some liquid inside of it. I want to pop it just because I think he's in pain and I think it will stay that way until he pops it with his teeth while licking it, or biting it.

Should I heat a safety pin and pop it, then disinfect it with some alcohol and piroxide ? or should I wait to see if it goes away, or should I bring him to the vet, which will undoubtely cost me 150 dollars or more for them to tell me what it is, and for them to pretty much pop it and do the same thing I would do. Thank you.

I'm seriously considering purchasing a Great Dane. I have done some private research, but looking here can help, too, right?

So, hit me with the nitty gritty on the Great Dane.

Looking for information from owners, mostly.

this week I lost my beautiful 18 year old Poodle and am devastated I cared for him as I care for myself. He was given Frontline and collapsed frothing from the mouth and with black poo everywhere The Vet said it wasn't from Frontline and foolishly I gave it to him again.Since then I have taken control and go to www.Shirleys wellness cafe for all my advice. As for flea/tick collars would you put one on yourself Dogs can live for a long long time if you keep as much in tune with nature as possible.Raw meat and bones lots of exercise and fresh water have kept my dogs healthy and Vet free

I've just read someone answer a question saying that a dog spayed while pregnant will still be carrying pups and will try to give birth to them when the time comes. I've also previously read similar answers. Are people really that ignorant.

Spaying an animal dog, cat, rabbit whatever means removing the uterus and ovaries leaving NO reproductive organs therefore they do not come into season and they cannot have pups, kittens etc If they were pregnant at the time they wont be by the end of the op.
Neutering/castration means the removal of the testicles therefore no sperm is produced and they no longer have the hormones that makes them want to go after females in season. The scrotal sack is left empty. It can take about a month for hormones to go completely and there is still a risk of sperm being in the penis so care should be taken for the first wee while.

Ferrets can be vasectomised which is different. They can still mate but do not release sperm as the tubes have been cut

We adopted an abused toy poodle a few weeks ago and I can't figure our how to get rid of his terrible odor. One day after a bath his hair is oily and dirty and he smells like he's been rolling in trash.
We think he is 3 or 4 years old but I can't be sure. I use special prescription sulfur shampoo and I bathe him every 2 to 3 days. I had him groomed and shaved very short and he eats a premium dry vegetarian food specially formulated for healthy skin and hair. He is a indoor dog and spends very little time outside. I guess his teeth need to be cleaned but they don't seem bad enough to be the cause.

I know its a dumb question, but here is the story. To begin with, my dog is in heat (started last Monday) and we have been taking well care of her so that no dog comes near her. I want to get her spayed but don't have the money for it (need to find a place where it can be done free of charge). Well, anyways, we rent a room to a cousin of ours and this past weekend, we have had special events to attend to. Because of the hot weather, we left our dog inside the house without her "panties/pad". However, this stupid cousin of ours decided to let her out and left her there in the backyard while he took a shower. While he was taking a shower, a male dog sneaked inside the backyard and did who knows what. By the time the dumb person came out, he couldn't tell if they were "together" or not. So now, I am left wondering if my doggie is pregnant! Is there a way I can tell if she is pregnant? And can I have her spayed ASAP even if she is pregnant?? Please help!

I have a chihuahua 9yrs old, 7lbs and a mutt 2yrs old, 16lbs. My older dog wont let the younger dog eat. They have both been with me and together for over a year, but this has only started within the last few weeks. The mutt will just back down and not eat at all when the older dog starts to claim both food bowls. So my younger dog is losing weight and fur. The older dog is gaining weight and getting constipated from eating so much. I need to suggestions on how to get them both to eat without all the problems.

I took my dog to the vet with a sore paw and after a three minute consultation was charged £36 for an anti-inflam jab and one week's supply of antibiotics. As I sat in the waiting room I noticed several people paying even more for their own pets and most were in the consultation for just a few minutes. Am I being cynical or are vets overcharging for medications and consultations?

Do you love them or hate them and why?

I personally think they are great!! My mom has three and they are the friendliest dogs ever, they are so calm, and lovable.

Why do people hate on them so much, it's not the "breed" it's the "deed"!!!

I mean, come on! Dogfighting is WRONG - just because it is 'part of his culture' doesn't make it any more ok than racism, sexism, etc. In fact, it is way worse - Abusing animals isn't like words that hurt, it is physical pain perpetuated against a living thing we, as humans, have domesticated to the point that WE should be a caretaker, provider and nuturer to them - & have no right to torture and abuse them. What do you think she was thinking? I am so disapointed in her now.
