CATS,
Sadly, the answer is yes...people really are that ignorant. I've seen people on this site ask whether it's best to spay or neuter a pet...like there's any choice?!
I used to volunteer with a pet rescue group, and it was amazing how many people thought the term was "spaded". (We didn't adopt to those people.)
Even worse is the number of ignorant people who REFUSE to have their pets spayed or neutered!

3 weeks is really really young. I don't think I would call her mean yet, but rather unsocialized. We got an 8 week kitten (more or less) from the humane society about a month ago and she's a bit of a terror. But she's learning - she is more careful with her claws, but she still likes to bite. I try to keep something handy for her to gnaw on. If I think she is getting carried away I tap her nose firmly and say no and put her down. That seems to be working (slowly). Maybe you should get some of those cat treat things and call the cat for a treat and pet her a bit. Then just go away and then do it again in a while.

Unfortunately it is often the answers rather than the questions which are the scariest!! Give people an anonymous forum and the idiots come running :)
Maybe we could ask the guys from 'Mythbusters' to cover the topic ...?
** I read the post you refer to and I too was astounded that someone could be so ignorant about basic female anatomy - and a female at that - very scary.

Your comprehensive question and answer are completely correct. There are many out there who do not understand the nature of the operations and therefor believe some pretty strange things. When it comes to spaying and neutering our pets, ignorance is not bliss.
Thanks for asking and answering.

people lack knowledge and they say some things without thinking. but i have never heard of a vet spaying a female dog when she is pregnant, they usually give them those pills that make them loose the babies. then they do the spaying

Well, it seems like a lot of people on here are rather young, and isn't this a question site? Isn't this why people ASK questions on here, to get answers to things they don't know about!?! Be glad they asked, rather then spreading that myth further.

Oh, you wouldn't believe what people think is the gospel truth about things. I don't find this surprising at all. I do know what it really means, btw. :)

Isn't it sad that people have such a lack of knowledge about simple anatomy and biology!!!!!!!!! I guess it helps explain the booming teen pregnancy epidemic!!!!!!!!!
