Do you love them or hate them and why?
I personally think they are great!! My mom has three and they are the friendliest dogs ever, they are so calm, and lovable.
Why do people hate on them so much, it's not the "breed" it's the "deed"!!!

Uhh, My mom's dog is red nosed and he is still a sweetie, I love him more than the other ones!!! Al though they are all really good pets!! Zachary(red nosed) Romeo, and Kingston ( new addition).
Someone stole her other one Alexis, and if they are so viscious, how could she have been taken away?

Well, Hot Ghetto Mess . . . . . LOL!!
(Hot Ghetto is NOT ghetto AT ALL!!, she's my daughter!!)
Anyway, Yes, I love pitbulls. This is one of the most beautiful breeds ever. People are uneasy mainly because of the media not because of personal reasons. They are muscular but they are cupcakes. My motto is: "To love a pitbull is to own or at least know a pitbull".
They should only be with loving caring responsible people. My 19 year old son is very responsible to our dogs and they love him dearly. My son does work in a vets office because of his love for animals.
Yes, someone stole my precious young female pittie named Alexis. She is gorgeous dog and I pray everyday she is alright. I have since acquired another baby male pitbull. I was down at the Humane Society looking for Alexis (as I do every three to four days) because they put pits to sleep at the drop of a hat when they come into that place. It does not matter if they are babies, young, never done anything terrible, or seniors.
Anyway, this guy was bringing in a baby (6-8 wk old) pitbull puppy. He was turning him in because he said he found the puppy and he did not want him. I talked to the guy and before I knew it, I was holding the puppy and the guy turned and walked back down the street. Well, I was not going to let that beautiful baby go in those doors to meet his death, so I brought him home.
We just named him Kingston and he is a playful little thing and very smart, as pitbulls are and he likes Zacheri already. Zacheri is my four year old male who is tolerating this young whipper snapper but I can tell Zac likes him.
I have five grandchildren and my dogs loves those children. Pits are wonderful dogs. They are not meant to be tied or chained to a tree and left in the backyard with no care. My dogs are all house dogs and family dogs. Spoiling is on my agenda! Kingston walks so proudly and he already has his own little cuddle pillow to sleep in and he loves it. They have nylabones lying all over the house.
"TO LOVE A PIT IS THE OWN OR AT LEAST KNOW A PIT"!!
LOVE YOU "HOT GHETTO MESS"!!! (YOUR MOM) ;D

I love the APBT . Its just the fact that the breed has been corrupted by drug dealers , thugs and irresponsible owners . If it wasnt for them the breed wouldn't be so messed up and destroyed as it is today . This breed is really a great breed if people would give it a chance . If it was not for the media this breed wouldn't have such a bad rap . There are two types of bullys . Bully Style and Gamebred . But it doesnt really matter because they both make good pets .

That is a good question. So many people question this. As an animal lover I traveled to Louisiana as the storm of Katrina was coming to an end. I went there to take care of the animals within the city. I was shocked.
The animals that were there was 130 pit bulls and very few others. I became quite easy and happy to be around them after a while.
The answer is they are known a mean dogs but like you, your pit bull was treated kind and takes to loving people. Abused pit bulls are numerous. a lot of people taunt them and reject them. It's a shame so many bad owners even buy dogs to teach them to be mean.
They have been named by the public as the meanest dogs ever. In my youth (I am 65) German Shepperd's had that name. It just depends on the people who get pets and how they treat their animals.
Love your animal because he loves you.

I love them... the reason people hate them so much is because... yes they DO live up to their reputation.
(Hear me out people, I'm a pitbull owner)
See the reason these dogs even HAVE this reputation, is because they fall in the hands of bad owners... (i.e. dog fighters, and the uneducated)
See, it's people that MAKE the dogs aggressive that feed the reputation, and the uneducated people that add to it. See, pitbulls are not a breed that should be owned by any joe blow, they take a great deal of TIME, EFFORT, and PATIENCE to properly train and socialize these dogs. They are often stubborn and hard to handle, and they frequently become riotous and a nuisance.
I know from firsthand experience, my first pitbull is a hellian, completely dog agressive and just a pain in my ****, but I love her. After I finally wisened up, I got a second pitbull, and he's the most well mannered, sweet dog I've EVER met in my life.
It is DEFINATELY how you raise them, and the environment they're in.
I believe that people should be well versed in dog obedience and training before they even CONSIDER owning a pitbull!

I personally only know one pit bull, and I HATE it's owner. He is an irresponsible 20 year old who has no business having any kind of dog.
Other than that, I feel the same way about them as I feel about any other dog. It really depends on the individual animal. My daughter was walking about 10 feet from a black lab when she was two and it lunged at her and bit her in the eye. Does that mean I hate labs? No. I don't care for that particular one though.

LMAO! hahaha, "illegal pink nosed pit"
the common term is "red nosed"
they are not illegal, and color of nose leather has nothing to do with temperament.
some people are so effing stupid.
but anyways, I love them. I have one too. She loves to cuddle and sit on people's laps.
I think what most people don't know is that Pit Bulls are naturally very human friendly.
When you get that one bad apple it gets blown out of proportion.
For example if a pit bites someone and injures them, it will be reported on 200 differnent news stations.
but if a mixed breed bites someone, even if it's fatal, it will be reported on maybe 1 or 2 local news stations.
That is a fact. There was a case study on it.
Even according to the American Temperament Test Society, Pit Bull breeds (APBT, Amstaff, Staffy) score higher that many other popular dogs.

My grandmother that is 79 has a Pitt Bull and she is so sweet. If she gets wound up she plays a bit rough and she chews through any toy you give her within a day but she would never hurt anybody. All of my grandmothers friends were so scared of her for some reason but it's not like shes training it to fight or something. I agree with the OP 100% "it's not the breed it's the deed."

I love pitt bulls they are really great dogs if they are raised in a really great home.
I adopt on and her name is Hailey she is a really angel doll.
I forget shes a pitt sometimes, she wont bite even if you shove your hand down her throat.
If a pitt starts in a good home they will be a really family pet, pitts can do really well with children and other dogs, I have 9 other dogs becides my pitt and a 15 year old daughter.
Hailey does really well around my other dogs adn my daughter, she doesnt have food or toy aggression.
Pitts are wonderful dogs if poeple let them

i love them. many people hate them because they r vicious and dangerous. but what those people dont realize is that they arent born thinking "ok i want to kill kill kill" they r like any other dog out there. the only thing dangerous about the dog is the people that made them the way they r. dont u think if a dog was vicious u would be more afraid of what the person could do. people that train them to be the way they r, r capable of a lot worse things. i love the breed because other people dont. and if other people dont like them then they wont have people to defend them.
