we got a yellow lab/cocker mix from a shelter and she did really well up until we noticed a cyst on her side. it hurt and was going to keep growing so we had to have it surgically removed. it seems like once it started hurting she has gone into hiding (she goes in a corner by herself in the house) and is going to the bathroom in the house. it has been about 3 weeks since her surgery and these problems seem to be getting worse. we plan on taking her to the vet to make sure that there isn't anything wrong but we were wondering why this is happening.

by the way we are pretty sure that at her old home she was around other dogs and we don't have another dog here. she seems to be less withdrawn when my brother-in-law's mother's dog is at our house (we had a labor day party and she brought him with).

i don't think that the surgery area actually hurts because i can touch it without her really being bothered (the stitches are already out and its healed shut). i was wondering if maybe the dissolvable stitches inside could be making it irritated?

Poor baby. She's in pain and she doesn't know why, so she's scared and trying to avoid all of you strangers. She's hoping not to add stress on top of her pain, and maybe even wondering if you all are the cause of it. Let the vet give her some painkillers til she gets through this. It's a double whammy, new people and being hurt all at once.
