I was wondering if anyone knew if it is safe to travel with newborn puppies. They are 9 days old and my father just passed away and I have to go home for the furneal. I dont have anyone to watch my dog and her puppies while I am gone so I was wondering how safe it is to travel with them and any tips anyone can give me for the trip so that the dog and puppies are safe and okay. I dont want anything to happen to the puppies or mother so can anyone give me any ideas on what to do.

My almost 3 year old Male black lab mated with a female dog the other day on accident. He was on his chain and the neighbor's dog came over and the rest was history! Now he will not eat and always whines and looks out the window for her. He is constantly wanting to go outside and is never calm and lays down but is always whimpering and keeps checking for her outside. Is there something that we can do to make him act like the normal dog he always was? He hasn't been the same for going on a week now! Somebody please help!

i have recently gotten a little chihuahua mix puppy. well she is now about 7 months old.
now i need to register her as all dogs have to be registred from the age of 3 months. which i think is good. all dogs should be registered but what i find frustrating is that i can'e get her spayed until she has had her first heat cycle. that's what my vet told me. but so now i am going against the rules as such but it really annoys me. an unspayed female is $70 to register and a spayed female is $20! that is a huge difference. they should let us wait until they female is ready!
i want to register her but i just want to give her the time to mature fully and then register her.
what do u think?

Last night I gave my dog a flea bath and then applied Sergeants Natures Guardian Natural Flea and Tick Squeeze-On to her shoulder blades area as directed. The Natures Guardian is all natural ingredients. And the flea and tick shampoo was supposed to be mostly natural as well (I think I bought it at whole foods or trader joes). This morning my dog has diarrhea. She has pooped three times and it is mushy and getting all over the back of her and it had a yellowish orange hue leaving a stain on her backside. Other then that she seems to be feeling okay, she is active and playing with toys as normal. Is this something I need to rush her to the vet for this morning? Is there anything I can feed her that might stop the runny poop? Do I need to wash the Natures Guardian squeeze-on off of her right away?
Any help would be great.

In June, I had moved in with a friend of mine as the place that I was renting was sold and was going to be remodeled. I am now ready to move back and now my new landlord says that my two dogs (who are like children) cannot come with me. This is heartbreaking- I feel like I do not have many options on where to move as my credit isn't great. Any advice would be great.

Pepper likes to be left alone and Daisy's too stupid to do it.
Both are spayed. Pepper is clearly more dominant so we've always tried to make sure she goes for walks first, gets treats first, etc. They're nearly impossible to break up when fighting.
Keeping them separated forever isn't exactly a solution, so what can I do? Any meds out there that might keep them calm?

I just got married, and I think my dog is in love with my new husband. When he comes home, she runs to the car, jumps in and jumps on his lap and kisses him. I have to pull her away to get my kiss, and then she cries!
She is so happy when he comes home that it takes at least 30 min. for her to settle down.
She is constantly at his side, and has her spot on the sofa next to him. When I get close, she kicks at me so she can wiggle between us. When he goes to the bathroom, she waits outside the door.
She sleeps on his pillow, and then between us in the middle of the night. In the morning, she jumps on her hind legs ( like a pogo stick) and crys if he does not kiss her goodbye like he does me.
When he kisses me in the morning in bed, she growls at us and pushes her way between us. I have to hold her twisting and wiggling little body when he leaves, or else she will run out the door.

I have never seen her behave like this! Is this normal?

I have an appt with the Vet @ 3pm. She was abandoned by previous owners 4 yrs. ago and we do not know her medical history.
She was just at the vet last week for her shots and groom.
Yesterday we noticed all these little bumps all over her body, size of a pea, and she seems depressed, not eating well, and pee's where ever she wants, right in front of us, which is strange for her. We did the diaper thing thinking with her age she may have developed loss of bladder control. Her weight has dropped. Anyone have the same breed and experienced these symptoms? What are we up against? Are Schnauzer's prone to cysts, tumors, fatty tissue's?

We dont know when we are moving yet, but sometimes between the next 6 month to a year...could be sooner.
I am taking my 2 dogs ( golden retriever and dachshund).
I am not sure the best way to do this. I know all the paperwork needed....and will have a it ready soon.
We are not sure where we live once getting germany ( hubby is with the governmnet), we could be living in a hotel until the house is ready. Do you think its a good idea to have my pups stay with a friend until we are settled in the house and she can ship them over then? I know its a lot of stress on dogs and i have never flown with either of them. What do you guys think?

I have an 1100 square foot home and am quite pragmatic, I have 3 small dogs, one of whom doesn't seem to train well for potty training, I am sick with M.E and can't do things the normal way due to stress intolerance, and I'd like to get a floor that is not carpet that I can throw cheap rugs or carpet pieces on, but linoleum is expensive and i am broke, but there must be a way to to go something like linoleum that doesn't aborb dog pee. I don't care about looks, only survival here and please,no lectures on training dogs, I've had dogs all my life and I just need an answer to can this be done and cheaply

I'm referring to Vicks, of course, who the NFL still hoped might come back after his suspension - after he raised, trained and fought LOTS of dogs. Now that he's been found with marijuana in his system he may not be able to come back. I for one think he should have lost his contract and any chances of coming back after the dog charges. What message is this sending to the children... abuse and train animal to hurt each other...just don't use pot?
Your thoughts?

My elderly Jack Russell picked up fleas a few weeks ago. She has a flea allergy and started biting herself until she was raw and pulled a lot of hair out of her back.

She has been treated (as has our other dog) for the fleas with Frontline and the Vet gave her a lampshade/Elizabethan collar to stop her doing any more damage to herself.

This was two weeks ago and she's still trying to bite herself! I can't take the collar off her because she just won't leave her skin alone! As a result she's not giving it time to heal.

Has anyone got any advice? Do you think she's just got into the habit of biting herself and now can't break the cycle?

i have a huge problem, i have two labradors, one golden and one cross breed chocolate lab. They have been together since a very young age and always been very troublesome, but the chocolate one is the problem. It was hard enough before but now i am five months pregnant, i cant handle then both and i know that when the baby comes it will be mayhem, after alot of thought i am considering giving up the chocolate lab but obviously i want her to go to a very nice home as she needs lots of attention, i dont want her to be put down in any circumstance.i love her to pieces but just cannot manage her anymore. What can i do to ensure she will be well looked after? advertise her in a paper?. Take her to a dogs homes, i just dont know, please help.

I have a 9 year old Rottweiler (named Belle) who is having some trouble with arthritis. She is becoming more stiff as the nights get colder, I'm doing what I can for her. I let her sleep on my bed, and on the couch when she's in the living room. I am also giving her Bayer Asprin (I asked my vet about the appropriate dose), but she is still limping a bit through out the day. Is there anything else I can do the ease her arhritis pain without having to put her on a perscription medication?

I live in South Africa, Kwazulu Natal and my family has 4 Rhodesian Ridgebacks which were imported as puppies from a friends farm in Zimbabwe (before the madness!). They look very different to the other Ridgebacks that I see here in South Africa. They have the line, double crown but are taller and thinner than some of the Mastiff type Ridgebacks I see in South Africa. Have Ridgebacks been crossed to increase weight ? Ours are more like greyhounds on steroids that love to protect and hunt.

His breath usually smells like rotten fish! We have tried brushing his teeth and that doesn't help. I have given him things to chew on (rawhide and greenies) and that doesn't help. He gags when he isn't doing anything but sitting still. He has been checked for worms and heartworms. Both were negative. I plan to take him to the vet when I'm off Friday, but was curious if anyone has any ideas in the meantime.

I have a dog that isn't too terribly common here in the US. Just wanted to see if anyone could guess, and if so, have you ever met one in person? Here are a few pics. For a hint, he is still pretty young and his very defining feature is still working on becoming fully noticable.

she has been inside in the laundry at night (used to be in the main part but she was doing to many messes on our polished floors)
but she gets seperation anxeity even when she is outside during the day. she is a very effectionate dog and loves to jump all over people. even people new to her, (but she also does a little piddle with new people)
we hate hearing her whine even when she is in the laundry. our bedroom is right next to it and lead out to the stairs of the laundry so she always sleep right outside our door (we can feel a warm spot when we get up in the morning) we have a dog kennell outside for her but she may be a little big for it. she has only ever gone in there when i have put her foodbowl in there. but she won't go in there to rest or sleep.
